Has your doctor confirmed that narrow stools are caused by spasms? My doc never heard of this. But I would believe it if your doctor said it did.

Is it possible you were just using the wrong kind of probiotics? I remember about a couple of years ago in a health food store, the person there was telling me that some probiotics are made out of bovine products which some people can't tolerate - she gave Udo's brand as an example, and others are made out of products more similar to our natural occuring flora. Does this make sense to anyone? I was kind of confused when she told me this and I'm still not 100% clear. I know I've tried different probiotics in the past and the one I live by is Primal Defense. It contains homeostatic soil organisms so I don't believe it's made with any bovine products.

Wind, have you tried low rise pants instead of tight high waisted ones? You don't need to get the very low ones like the teens use these days, you can get a pair that sits just below the belly, yet will not show butt crack.

Hi Beth, Anthem found it in a book he has on IBS. I think
the author's last name is Salt, but it may be spelt Sault,
I'm not sure. And yes, both of my GI doc's say they are a result of
the spasms. The problem is the antispasmodic med's don't
always work completely or continuously, as we all have found
out unfortunately.-Bob

Hi Nelly, Thanks very much. I'm down in Chicago now staying
at my sister's place for Christmas and New Year's. I was
just using my sister's laptop, but it so foriegn to me that
I decided to go over to the local branch of The Chicago
Public Library where they have PC's that I'm familiar with.
I'm not doing too bad but I'm still hobbling around like
Capt.Ahab. It seems like I'm in slow motion. I'll search for
that post you mentioned as I still have 46 minutes left on
my computer time here. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy
New Year! -Bob

Beth, When I refer to "they" in the previous post, I mean
thin stools. My sister's laptop wouldn't let me edit it,
that's why I'm using a PC at the local branch of the Chicago
Public Library.-Bob
