I know with this diet I should eater smaller meals frequently during the day. The only bad thing is, I get really hungry the later it gets b/c i'm never full from my dinner time meal. I try not to eat after about 8:00. I know it's not really good for your body to eat late before bed or late at night, but I just get horrible cravings for food! It's especially bad this week because I'm up late studying for final exams. I feel like I can't focus unless I've got food in my stomach. What do I do? Any suggestions???

Just make it something small and light. Honestly, I eat an hour before bed, sometimes less than that, and I've never had it bother me, as long as I keep it small and safe.

Maybe it's not good to eat that late, but it's DEFINITELY not good to be hungry enough that you can't focus. Eat the snack.

I'm like this, too. But everyone tells me that I cannot eat AT LEAST 2 hours before going to bed because I have GERD, too. Well, I have realized that if I eat before I go to bed I might wake up with a sore throat (reflux), but I don't wake up all through the night like I did last night with a horrible stomach ache from my stomach being too empty!!! I didn't eat after about 7:30 last night and I was awake all night long with a stomach ache and reflux!

So, I don't know what to do.....

to eat after 8pm, or whenever you're hungry.

well, i should be more specific. i'm not sure exactly what you mean by it being bad for your body to eat late. if you're talking about acid, michelle's right and it's not great. but if you're talking about the theory (which is really more of an old wives' tale) that eating after 8 (or 9) makes you fat, or gain weight, or anything like that, then don't worry, and throw that idea out the window. if you're hungry, you need to eat. for people eating three large meals, stopping at eight is fine and keeps them full till bed, but if i stopped at 'dinner time,' i'd be a wreck, and probably upset my stomach, too.

Hi Jaime!
See, that's what happens to me. Because of my reflux, I cannot eat a whole lot in one sitting, EVER!! So, I eat a little bit all day.....then I stop at "dinner time" and I'm dying by the time I go to bed. It seems like I just set myself up for a stomach ache, doesn't it?? I wake up every single night with hunger pains and stomach aches.......So, I don't know what to do....I guess I might just have to wait it out till my reflux heals so I can eat more during the day. I'm not getting in enough food to keep my tummy settled at night, I guess....???

Def. have something!

Michelle, I have a mug of warm soy milk with Acacia in the evenings, sometimes just before bed and it's great. It soothes both the IBS and the GERDs and helps me sleep.

I love these things. My faves are cheddar cheese (believe it or not they don't bother me), Ranch, white cheddar, and (my bestest of all) peanut butter chocolate chip. Ooooooooh! Unfortunately, I have a hard time finding my bestest on the store shelves; everyone beats me to them apparently. They have only teeeny tiny choco chips in them and just enough peanut butter for flavor, but not overpowering. They're YUMMY! Don't bother going for the caramel.

They're perfect for late night snacking, especially the large cakes which you can portion out better than the little ones. If you don't count out the little ones into a serving dish, eating out of the bag can -- and has -- been my downfall; it's easy to lose count of how many you're eating!

Unfortunately, hubby usually gets to them before I can.....
