Lack of sleep is one of my biggest pain and D triggers! I know when I've stayed up too late because my tummy hurts and is grumbly. I know I haven't gotten enough sleep in the past few days when I get a grumbly, D-ish system!

I definitely feel worse when I don't get enough sleep. I've always had a "weak" stomach, but ever since i had my son (8 months ago), I've had more and more IBS attacks or just plain stomach discomfort. He still isn't a good sleeper at 8 months- still up 3 or 4 times a night, sometimes more! And he never naps more than 1 hour total (in little cat naps) every day. He just doesn't like to sleep. At least he's cute and happy Anyway, point being, when we get up every hour, I almost always feel terrible in the tummy the next day. I'm dreaming of the day I can sleep again...maybe in 4 months when I start weaning him!

Oh golly when I'm tired my bowels just want to go crazy. Just recently I had one of those nights where I was roaming the house at 4:30 a.m. and still wide awake. The next day I just stayed home because I knew I'd spend time in the potty!

I have to be extra careful if I'm particulary tired. Tiredness is an IBS trigger and it suppresses you immune system so you're more likely to get bugs.

Lack of proper sleep is a big TRIGGER. Just last week my attacks lasted an entire week based on one day of over doing it and then little sleep that night. Holidays and company and it is easy to forgot to take care of yourself. Lisa

Being tired is a major trigger for a lot of people. I don't have it so bad now that I've mostly stabilized, but holy cow, a year ago, not getting enough sleep would completely screw me up.

So you're not strange at all!
