i bought "Eating for ibs" by Heather but I don't know what a lot of the foods are, eg: graham crackers, canola oil. I also eat walkers crisps(potatoes, veg oil, salt) and seabrooks crisps (potatoes, sunflower oil, salt) so are these ok? If there is anyone from the uk reading this could you please tell me what brands of things you eat, i would be most greatful. thx

Hiya, I had the same problem when I first read the book!! Ok so far I,ve found out that graham crackers are slightly like digestives but smaller and thinner but I wouldn't suggest the digestives if your especially sensitive to wholegrains as theyre made with wholemeal flour and most contain milk! Canola oil, I believe is Rapeseed oil I buy one with the brand name 'Golden fields' which you can get in most supermarkets, as regards crisps, I dont know of any oven baked ones but your best off getting the low fat types, such as walkers lights or the new mr potato head ones. If you have any other questions feel free to ask, I'll do my best. Also check out 'Brand name recommendations for safe foods' at the top of the index. Hope that helps x x

Check out the UK brand name recommendations .
I'm not sure whether Canola Oil is Corn Oil or Rapeseed Oil. Either way, any mild-flavoured (eg. not olive oil) vegetable oil is fine.
Those crisps are unlikely to be safe b/c of the fat content. You want to aim for no more than 25% calories from fat and fat is 9 calories per gram. So take the number of grams of fat in a certain amount (eg. 100g or portion), multiply this by 9 and divide it by the total number of calories in that amount (eg. 100g or portion). If the answer is higher than 25 they're too high in fat.
