I was planning on going right back to work the next day. I'm a teacher so sitting all day is not an option. Will I hurt or still be loopy? Will I be having lots of gas or D? I've searched and read other posts but I think a lot of those are random occurences. Is there a norm? Thanks! othermags

Personally, I had mine done on a Friday and was glad I didn't have to go back to work for 2 days for 2 reasons:
1. Originally when I'd had my upper endoscopy done on a Monday, the next day I went back to work and I felt like I had a hangover. I think this was from the drugs I had during the procedure. I was afraid it would happen again with the colonoscopy, which it did, so I was glad to be able to relax at home.
2. I had gas, D, and just pretty much felt unstable for a day or so after.
That was my experience anyway.

Hi other Mags!
Sorry to be doom and gloom, but going back to work the next day might be a problem.
Normal post-colonoscopy symptoms include: 1. Gas and bloating. This is because the actual procedure forces air into your gut.
2. Some discomfort re. above.
3. Effects from the drugs (sedative, etc). Which can include feeling sleepy, dizzyness, etc.
And generally, it is likely to make you feel pretty crap for a little while.
Sorry! And good luck!

Sorry but I have to agree with these guys. I had help with my kids the day after, they came home THAT night and from then on I was fine. Next day might be pushing it. Good luck!

I felt fine after mine, just a little sleepy. I came home and slept a couple of hours and was normal the next morning. No gas, no pain, no C, no D .... you wouldn't have known I'd had it done!

I sure felt cruddy!!! for a few days after & have heard fr. others on her that they felt the same. Think part of it was the Levbid they had me on for IBS and also the demerol. Remember that for us w/IBS or other intestinal problems, we are often affected more than people w/out these problems.
I wouldn't plan on doing much the next day......just to be SAFE!!!
Hope you DO feel fine the next day
