Has anyone had a bad IBS experience after drinking Barium for a CT scan?

I am scheduled to have a CT scan Tuesday morning on my chest and upper abdomen for chest pains I have been having. The are going to inject a contrast material plus I have to drink Barium twice before going in. I am so nervous and scared that I will have and IBS attack that it is only making things worse. The nurse at the CT place assured me that it won't "clean" me out....but I'm still nervous. Any votes of confidence will be greatly appreciated.

Nugget - I don't know if you're IBSC or D. Nurses usually say that if anything, Barium will constipate more likely than it will cause D. For me, of course, it caused D - it went right through. But, the good news is, it wasn't that it caused a bad attack or anything. Try to relax. Remember, hospitals have lots of washrooms.

Yes I have. I felt very full and gassy for about 2 or 3 day's and then I started to fell alittle better, but eat get rid of the Barium fluid. After it's all gone you should fell better.

barium makes me extremely consitpated, and being ibs-d, i wanted some more (LOL)

Nugget - Look on the bright side--if you get D, you don't have to clean it up. They do!
