urine leakage? I do and it's gross. Little bit all day long. I hate it.

Is this normal for IBS or should I go to a urologist?

Beth, It's not uncommon with IBS just before BM's, when the
stool piles into the sigmoid colon and rectum, they push
against your bladder, and if it's more than half full you
can have leakage. I have had that due to my BPH, I don't know
what would cause that in women though, unless you're taking
some meds or supplements that can cause unrinary retention.

Hi,
I have a similar problem - I have a redundant colon, so the poop piles up and exerts pressure on the bladder. Sometimes when I sneeze, I leak a few drops of urine. Susan

I don't think I could handle yet another problem. What kind of doctor would you suggest to check this out? A gyno? A PCP? A urologist?

I just can't handle another problem to try and figure out! Darn this broken down body.

Sweetie, don't fret. I'd go see a general doc and they can check you out for infections, etc first. You'll probably end up with pelvic floor exercises, which are really easy and are great for women to learn early so you can stop yourself getting leakage in later life! So don't worry, okay? Worrier!

I guess it's time to get a regular doctor besides a gastro and my gynie.

I think of Ruchie and all she is dealing with health wise, and this gives me some strength to deal with another problem.

Thanks!

PS. Yep, I'm the worrierest of all worriers! Just comes so naturally for me, unfortunately.

This question reminded me of an experience I had a while ago. I thought you might find it interesting as a fellow worrier!
I had some leaking going on for a few weeks which eventually turned into extremely painful urination. I assumed it was a bladder infection so I went to the doctor. However, negative for bladder infection after three tests.
My doctor said it might be cystitis and gave me a weeks worth of pills to try. If I still had pain after the pills were gone, they'd have to consider more invasive ways of figuring out what the issue was.
So, I went home and looked up cystitis on the internet and immediately started freaking out because it's kind of like IBS for your bladder. Feels like you're peeing razor blades but doctor's cannot find a reason and there isn't a cure.
I was SO stressed out and crying the whole week of taking those pills! I cursed my body for going wacko in another area. And why was it all related to going to the freaking bathroom for pete's sake???
I can't tell you how relieved I was when the pill cycle was over and I didn't have any pain! Phew! I haven't had any problems since then. My doctor said that sometimes women will have a brief case of leaking or painful urination that can't be linked to a UTI, and most are successfully treated with the drug he gave me.
Hopefully my story will ease your worries a little bit. Maybe the leaking is related to something that can be easily fixed! Definately go to the doctor!
Good luck!

I don't have any painful urination though. Just the stupid slow leakage. I know I need to go to some type of doctor.

I bought some Depends panyliners yesterday! I'm too young for this.

i don't experience leakage but in the past 4 years or so I have experienced a very weak bladder, deep urgency to pee. on a very bad day I have to pee maybes 5 times an hour regardless of whether I drink 1 glass or 5 glasses of water. its always felt like the pressure is somehow related to my ibs but i don't really know - I haven't seen anyone about it! I also thought it may have been anxiety but it still happens when I am completely chilled, when I do regular exercise, yoga and all the 'right' things. anyway, I haven't any real words of wisdom to offer. I always thought it may be a common symptom of ibs and it would clear up alongside it so be interesting to hear any other points of view.
