Long story, here!

Some of my friends and I went to a costume store called Evangelline's in downtown Sacramento last night. It's a 3 story building that is open all year long and sells some really awesome costumes and accessories! So we browsed and bought a few things then left. We explored a bit until one of my friends began complaining about being hungry. They couldn't decide on where to eat and I came up with this, "genius" idea that we could just eat at the Denny's that is right across the street. So we went and I ordered the low fat grilled chicken thinking that it wouldn't inflame my bowels more than they already were (I was already pretty hungry and thus was causing my bowels to distend and ache a bit). After eating what I hoped would be a safe food, my bowels distended twice as much and felt as if they were going to rupture! It was terrible! I hadn't been in that much pain in months! It had me doubled over as we walked back to the car.
When I got back to my boyfriend's house, I ate some oatmeal and took all my meds and laxatives. The usual 4 tbs of Milk of Magnesia and Citracel; but overdosed heavily on the Miralx (3 times the normal 17g dose), and 2 pills of magnesium oxide instead of one.
The following morning, everything was still stuck. I again ate more oatmeal and took 4 - 5 times the normal dose of miralax and 2 pills of magnesium oxide with Citracel. Finally, things began to move out and now I'm back to being, "normal constipated."

What's the moral here? Eat at Denny's and you will DIE!!!

Even the "grilled" items are prepared with too much oil, something that also happens at Friendly's and some of the other chain restaurants. Sorry you had such a bad experience - hope you feel better soon!

If I ate at a place like Denny's, I'd be running for the bathroom for hours....and hours...and hours.....everything would go right through me. I'd be losing my insides at both ends!!! lol

Isn't IBS weird!!!!!????

Even if the chicken was safe, you would still need to make sure the entire meal is safe. Plus, when you've let your tum get too empty, you need to be very careful about reintroducing very safe food, or you'll get consequences! Try carrying safe snacks in your purse whenever you go out so you don't get into that situation again.

Sounds like you need to increase your Citrucel dose...you shouldn't need to OD on Miralax & magnesium like that. An IBS gut can react badly to any big stimuli, even if you're C! You want to keep things on a nice level basis to keep your tum happy.

Ditto. Just the smell would do it.

Indeed, IBS is quirky.

I'm already taking 4-5 doses of Citracel a day. And there were no other opportunities for me to get a meal. Had I waited any longer then ate, it would have been even worse. The chicken I ate was around 5g of fat. It was the leanest thing that they had. I even patted it with a napkin and squeezed out what I could.
