to their Chik-products and the Grillers contain whey and caseinate. I think it's only been recently that Morningstar has been doing this. It's so frustrating to find something tasty and safe and then they ruin it by adding dairy! I used to like their Grillers, but now I can't eat them!

Yes, I know what you mean feeling like you have limited choices and ALWAYS having to read the ingredients because they might have changed. There are some good, safe choices, however, out there you could try.
Morningstar now offers a Vegan Griller, which is like a meatless, dairyless hamburger. As far as chicken or chik'n (fake chicken) is concerned, I avoid anything breaded (patties, chicken nuggets) because it most likely contains milk.
I've been buying bags of Tyson's frozen (uncooked) chicken tenderloins, which are white meat and low-fat, skinless, unseasoned, and easy to prepare (about 35 minutes if frozen, 20-25 minutes if thawed).

Plus there's the fat and lactose, neither of which are exactly helpful, but the proteins are why even skim-milk dairy is bad for us.

She's referring to the brand name list, which is stickied at the top of this page. brand name list Unfortunately, it is/was compiled by us (we gave the brand name suggestions, it wasn't Heather's list), and of course a few products, like the Morningstar Farms stuff, now contains dairy and isn't safe. But it's still a good starting point.

Yes, the chicken tenderloins are yummy and easy to make! Someone else here mentioned them and it's great to have them readily available. You should use them in some of the recipes listed on the IBS Recipes Board or just bake them in any of the sauces (I just add the sauce--my favorites are teriyaki and lemon which are also in the recipe index--and then bake them according to the instructions on the package). Eat it with some of your favorite cooked veggies and white or brown rice and you'll be getting a good combo of SF, IF, and protein. Fast and easy!
Although some people with IBS are lactose intolerant (unable to digest the milk sugar), most IBSers can't tolerate dairy because the proteins are more difficult to digest and can cause really bad digestive problems. This can trigger an attack and over time just really irritates your colon, which is already irritable thanks to IBS!
