...butter cookies would be pretty bad, both in terms of fat content and dairy products. That's something we should all stay away from, unfortunately.

But yeah, I think we all have our little guilty foods that we eat when we think we're invincible, and they come back and bite us in the butt. Hope you feel better soon!

I'm trying really hard to keep my weight. I lose weight fast when I'm flared up and I don't want to lose any.....so, I eat fat where I can and butter cookies is not it, obviously!!!

And btw, Heather's Sweet Cinnamon Zucchini Bread is yummy, safe and absolutely LOADED with calories (way more than even ADBs). I had to stop making it as gaining weight is my problem.

...which is why I had to stop making Heather's Chocolate-Applesauce Bread, which is seriously TO DIE FOR. I don't know the calorie count, I just know that a friend and I polished off an entire loaf by ourselves last winter because we couldn't stop eating it. And, of course, it's safe!

Crack open that book, Michelle! There's some great recipes in there!

Seriously, though - all the quick bread recipes are outstanding, and they'll definitely help if you need calories.

Just plain pasta? That is strange.... you had nothing with it at all? Were they egg noodles?

Of course - maybe it isn't food related. Were you under stress? That time of the month? Anything like that?

I think it's the oatmeal that I had for breakfast. I ate it again, this morning and had another attack. Some days I can tolerate it and some days I cannot. It's a different kind of oatmeal with alot of vitamins in it......I don't think I can tolerate it. I'm going to lay off of it for a little while and see if I stabilize some more. I feel fine right now......after eating noodles all day today, too, and toasted bagels. But that oatmeal almost killed me this morning.

Sometimes I can get away with some oats in a recipe -- like a bread or something... but a whole bowl would get me for sure.

I was basically living off of oatmeal my whole life. Even after I got the IBS-D, I could still eat oatmeal. But, I am either intolerable to that new kind I have been buying or I am beginning to not tolerate oatmeal in general. I will die if I cannot eat my oatmeal, anymore! It is my staple food!!

What are the ingredients in the new kind of oatmeal you're eating?

I don't know what brand of oatmeal you're eating, but Quaker Oatmeal has new instant oatmeal products that are higher in vitamins and minerals, but also contain triggers so it's best to stick to the original. The Nutrition for Women contains milk (listed under its artificial ingredients), The Weight Control oatmeal contains whey, The Lower Sugar ones contain Splenda, and the Take Heart ones contain HFCS and/or sucralose (Splenda).

Hi,
This is my first post as I'm a new member. Regarding oatmeal, I have eaten it for many years in between severe bouts of IBS-D(yes I do have long bouts of "freedom") to keep me regular and I happen to enjoy it much better than the dry cereals, I have always used Quaker Oats Quick type, when visiting the Uk I eat Scott's Porridge Oats. When I having an episode of the IBS-D I can't eat oatmeal, only Cream of Rice though it is pretty bland it does help calm down the D which can get pretty bad making me afraid to leave the house. I have used many of the fiber products my GI Dr. recommended but the oatmeal works best for me. I have ordered the Acacia Fiber, I 'm wondering if it will be too much along with the oatmeal.
Hope you can get back to eating oatmeal, I know I miss it when I have IBS-D.

Thank you! I didn't eat it today and I'm feeling better....but I miss it. -nt-....:) new

I don't know what it is, but I swear I could taste artificial sweetner in it or something.....it's the blueberry heart smart oatmeal that has a lot more fiber and vitamins and minerals and stuff. Well, it does not agree with my system at all!!! I'm glad you made me aware of it containing a trigger because I thought it was all in my head or something. I wonder if I could switch back to the regular oatmeal and be okay with it....

I pulled my box out of the trash just so I could look at the ingredients and it has SUCRALOSE in it!!! I knew I could taste that crap!!!

I kept eating it and kept eating it and my symptoms progressively got worse and worse over the past month. I even ate 2 bowls of it in one day, the day before yesterday. I guess that's why yesterday was a particularly bad day for me.

I took so many pepto to stop the D that I haven't went at all today and I feel soo good.......I thought I would have C problems, but I haven't yet. But, I just started all over with the BTC diet, yesterday, since I felt so bad. I hope tomorrow is just as good as today was .....I doubt it though because once my colon moves it's probably going to hurt....ALOT! I will pray for a good outcome, though!!

I'm glad you figured out the cause of your recent attacks. I'm sure if you went back to your original, safer oatmeal that you'd be okay, especially if it wasn't bothering you before. I'm sending you positive thoughts and prayers for another good day and a smooth, pain-free "move".
