Hi all! I've just recently realized that I have acid reflux and a very red, soar throat. Is there something good, natural that I can take so that I don't burn my throat into nothingness?? Help!!

Hi HAC, If you mean over the counter stuff, something like
Prilosec OTC should help. If you have it regularly you should
get a scrip for a PPI. I don't think there's any natural food
or drink that inhibits it. -Bob

NEXIUM!!! This is the very very very best thing I've ever used. It's a lifesaver. I vote for "the Purple Pill!"

Have you seen your dr.? It's a good idea so they can see how much damage there is.

I tried OTC items that didn't work and a few prescriptions. Nexium and diet helped immediately! Many of the triggers are the same for IBS and should be avoided. The chemicals loosen the sphincter to the stomach and let acid right into the esophagus.

Avoid: chocolate, alcohol, citrus (I can't do OJ at all!), tomato, etc. Some people can tolerate different levels. The first three are no-nos for me. Also, eat small meals.

Good luck! I hope you feel better soon.

...you can't treat it w/out them. And leaving it untreated leaves you at risk of ulcers, cancers, all sorts of BIG yuckies.

Thank you guys for responding...so damn depressing. I live to eat and of course, chocolate, alcohol and tomatoes are high on my list of favorites. I hear peppermint also leads to acid reflux...go figure. thanks again...:(
