I was at my local health food store last night and picked up a canister of a new fiber powder called "Irritable Bowel Fiber". Let me note that I don't sell the stuff so this is not SPAM. It is made by Nature's Sunshine and was designed specifically for us "sensitive" people. I don't know how to post a link to the Nature's Sunshine website or I'd do it. I always start new products on Friday evenings (so I don't have a blowout at work) but it looks really promising. The main ingredient is apple pection, which works great for me, and it also has short-chain FOS, slippery elm, peppermint, and stevia. It was a tiny bit on the expensive side at 25 servings for $20.00, but if it works, I'll buy it by the case. Supposedly, their products are guaranteed and I can get my money back if I don't like it. I'll keep the board posted on my lasted fiber adventure.

Yes, please do! I bought some of it a few weeks ago but never started it because I'm scared to come off of what I'm already taking....so, it's still sitting in my pantry unopened. Let me know how it goes!!

Will do! I'm kind of scared, too, but I'm not taking anything now and my doctor said I absolutely must have fiber. Wish me luck!

I'm a Michelle too.

AWWW, that's cool! I have been taking citrucel and am scared to switch to the irritible bowel fiber because it has insoluble fiber in it, too, unlike my citrucel. I'm IBS-D, so I think it would hurt me more than help me.......but, I don't know because I haven't tried it, yet.....Are you IBS-D or C???

Well, here's a link for people who want more information Fiber Supplement . Maybe someone can tell you if this looks safe. If you click on Product Label (in orange) it gives you more info.

It doesn't seem like this product looks as gentle for "sensitive" people as any of the other SFS. It does contain FOS which is a form of Inulin, we think, according to this post FOS .
Inulin can cause bloat and gas. I was going to buy Fiber Smart until the man at the HFS looked up FOS in his info book and it said it could cause problems. He suggested I not buy it because of my sensitive tummy.

If you do try it, please let us know how it goes. I don't luck with SFS, and maybe, just maybe, this one is marketed to sensitive people. I've never seen this product...where did you find it? Is it new?

Thanks for sharing this...and please, please, let us know how it goes for you. Good Luck!

What other SFS have you tried? Do you tend to have a problem with them too?

I did a Google search, the website is at www.naturessunshine.
com. The powder doesn't contain anything new, except Una de
Gato bark, which I never heard of before. It means Of the Cat
bark in Spanish, whatever the heck that is. -Bob

Una de Gato is commonly known as Cat's Claw. It's supposed to be a natural anti-inflammatory. My friend with Crohn's takes it in liquid form, with good results.

I'm an alternator. I haven't tried Citrucel before, but Metamucil and Acacia give me fits. Gas, cramps, bloat, the whole nine yards. I'm going to try half-doses at first and see where it gets me.

I have had problems with acacia and psyllium. I do fine on flax as long as it is milled super-fine and I drink lots of water. My probiotic has short-chain FOS in it and it doesn't seem to bother me unless I'm having a major flare. It think it is an ingredient in Ensure Glucerna too, which I do okay with.

But this one was too much for me. I'm an A (more D prominent) so it really irritated my insides. But I do take the Intestinal Soothe and Build with great results. I'm also about to add some slippery elm as soon as I get back to the health food store tomorrow after work.
