Hey guys, I don't know if this would work for everyone, but I've had a hankerin' for chocolate the last day or two and nothing around here that I can tolerate. Turns out there were cocoa puffs in the pantry my mom bought for the kids but I won't let them eat them (I'm so mean) but every once in a blue moon. Well, they are really low fat, no fiber to speak of, and I forget the rest of the ingredients to be honest, but the point is they were pretty yummy with my soy milk! And didn't upset the tummy at all! Just passing this along. I know Heather has delish recipes for chocolate lovers but I rarely get to bake/cook much and this was a quick fix!

I eat Cococa puffs all the time (get those little sample boxes to keep at work) and they don't upset my tummy at all either! Haven't tried them in milk, but I bet they turn the soy milk into chocolate soy milk.

I am so glad you shared about cocoa puffs.
I love those things and have been dieing for a chocolate fix. I'll have to get me some to keep while all my co-workers chow-down on cake and cookies.

Now, any ideas to help me curb this moo-cow craving?
I tried to find a beefeaters anonymous group but there isn't one here in Dallas.

I agree on the cocoa puffs. They don't bother me either.
Cocoa krispies also fit in nicely. They even make decent rice krispie squares if you're looking for the choc fix.
Anybody have any problems with hot chocolate? I'm afraid to try it?

Hi Skywalker....I just now saw your photo and have to ask (although it has probably been asked or addressed when I haven't been in here) isn't it terribly difficult to have IBS and be a pilot? I sympathize for you.

Oooh that's a good question about the hot chocolate. Although hot chocolate sometimes makes me nauseous when it's too strong.. the carnation stuff is really good. Haven't looked in the ingredients.

What about those little cardboard marshmellows? I love those.. not sure I want to find out what those are made of!

'cardboard' marshmallows!! LOL

Any hot chocolate mix I've ever looked at the ingredients for had milk. There is a recipe on Hershey's cocoa where you can make your own and use soy/rice milk.

And you could probably even add mini marshmallows - the real kind.

Did you try the hot cocoa? I have made it with vanilla rice milk and it was so good. Too bad I didn't try it last winter when I really wanted some. You can't take the girls outside to play in the snow and not make sure they have that hot cocoa.

Yes, I did....I made one mug full

I used 3 tsp cocoa and increased the milk (I used vanilla soy) to 1-1/2 cups. Then added one big mashmallow

Chocolate crave has been taken care of!!

Is this a safe method for handling the chocolate PMS attacks?

Thanks for asking.
So far so good, but i am sporadic anyway. average 1-2 episodes per month sometimes more. great for some on this site but for me a pilot i need to get it to a couple times a year or less to keep my job.
just finished a week on without problem. had my goodie pack of snacks we'll see in a month or two.

Glad to hear that you are feeling better. If you stick to the diet, you should start having less frequent attacks. I know for me it took a good couple of months to get it really under control. Now I only have attacks every once in a while. Good luck and keep us posted!
