Hello, everyone. I was recently diagnosed with IBS/IBD. I've tried to absorb everything on this site, but there's so much to learn! As I don't want to live on bread and water, I've attempted to stick to Heather's Diet, but still find I'm cramping up even this morning after a bowl of RiceKrispies and soy milk! I feel yucky.
I read a post referring to Immodium; I 'lived' on it, once a day during our recent vacation, but didn't want to take it at home without working out what exactly bothered me and what didn't. Is this wise? Or should I just continue taking it and live a more 'normal' life?
I'm so confused, still, but very pleased to have found this site and your board.
Glad I found you! Lynn

Hi Lynn, Welcome to the boards! I would say take the immodium, because what bothers you and what doesn't should do so regardless, the immodium should hopefully make the things that bother not bother you as bad. I think a lot of IBS-D's take one per day as a preventative measure, but I'm not wholly sure. I'm sure they will comment on that, and believe me, you're not the only one that's confused here , this whole IBS thing is often full of contradictory info. I'd guess maybe 2/3 of the registered members have probably stabilized on Heather's diet, and that's about 4400 people, which says there's got to something very right about it! -Bob

Thanks, Bob! Too funny you'd reply from Michigan! I printed out all the rest-stops along I75 a few weeks ago in prep for our trip! Love your state...been there a few times!
Thanks for the info...I'm just so concerned about 'living' on Immodium without knowing my 'triggers'. At this point in time, however, seems it's the only safe thing to injest!
Thanks for the welcome!

Ah, thanks. Well for IBS I'd definitely recommend Imodium along with Heather's diet and an SFS. I don't know enough about IBD to know if Immodium is appropriate for that also. I take Imodium as needed, but I know some people take it every day or twice a day as a preventive measure.
HTH and welcome to the Boards, Lynn55.
