I personally have IBS-D and can absolutely not eat anything that has whole wheat in it, so wheat thins are a no-no for me. But I have read in other posts that some of the IBS-C people can munch on wheat thins. So I think it depends on your body.

I would not recommend them.

well, enriched wheat flour (means regular white flour) should be okay, if it does not say specificically "whole" wheat. Can you list the other ingredients, because I am confused, because if I remember what a wheat thin looks like, it seems to have something that looks like a whole grain in it.

i do okay with them (i'm D, on the mild side, though perhaps in the process of turning A?), but i do believe they have whole grains in them. i try to have them after some SF. make sure you get the reduced fat kind - even those are a little high in fat for ibs, but the regular ones are, of course, worse.

Wheat Thins have HFCS in them (I think... it's either that or MSG) in which case that would make them NOT safe. I know I've always loved Wheat Thins and was really disappointed when I looked at the ingredients.

although it's worth keeping in mind that some people can tolerate hfcs, and in the wheat thins it's in with a lot of SF.

Ingredients:
Enriched Flour (Wheat Flour, Niacin, Reduced Iron, Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin B1), Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Folic Acid), Partially Hydrogenated Soybean Oil, Defatted Wheat Germ, Sugar, Cornstarch, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Corn Syrup, Salt, Malt Syrup, Leavening (Calcium Phosphate, Baking Soda), Vegetable Colors (Annatto Extract And Turmeric Oleoresin), Malted Barley Flour.
they have wheat germ which is IF but yes it seems like a lot of SF too. The reduced fat has 27.6% fat which is still very high and they have HFCS. My choice would be to eat something else.

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!
