I have been having some heart symptoms that the cardiologist wanted to rule out. I have a Adenosine Stress Test on Wednesday. I had to see a different Dr. regarding some heart issues that I needed clarifying on and he said I didn't need the next stress test, that I should just start taking Prilosec. Here's my question, has anyone else here taken Prilosec and did it make you unbelievably sick. I didn't have indigestion (GERD symptoms)before I took it and that's what happened.
Went back into D and extremely bloated and belching and nauseaus. I slept for probably 17 hours (not an exacteration).
Was wondering if it could possibly be related to IBS and affect it differently in someone with IBS?
Thanks for any input. It's appreciated! Pam took it on Saturday and s

I do pretty well onPrilosec- it helps my nausea- I would ask for prescription strength Zantac- it may work better. I have taken Prevacid in the past and it made my symtoms worse also!!

I take it from time to time, but it's different because I DO have GERD and it helps control those symptoms. For me it's been a good thing. If your body doesn't need it, I suppose it could have adverse affects! Isn't there some other med he could put you on for you heart? I'd definitely talk to your doc about this.

They actually don't know if it is my heart at this point, just some symptoms that could be heart related. I am having the stress test tomorrow and hopefully they will rule my heart out as the issue.
He said to start on prilosec because I was tender in a spot of my upper left abdomen. So he just assumes that it is only indigestion.
Thanks so much for getting back to me on this...I was just concerned as it kicked my system into an uproar. I was feeling better until I took them.
Have a GREAT day! Pam

Works like a charm for me, too. I take it 2-3 times/day. I It also helps with my a.m. nausea (tegretol related). I too would have asked for prescription Zantac!
Kate.
