Heather sells Techni Ice Hot/Cold Packs which work great at home. The patches (Bodi Heat & Thermacare) are sold in boxes. I've found them in the stores with the pain killers (aspirins, ibuprofen, etc.) Hope that helps! You don't really have to be active. I use them at night or anytime I need them. I have used them for my menstrual cramps and my IBS cramps and they work well when I am both active and resting.
