I have considered Weight Watchers, but haven't been able to find a meeting that is after work. Mostly all the meetings are before supper. How does that work? I guess overweight people aren't supposed to work LOL

But I am going to have to look into - and the meetings thing is a good idea because you will be more motivated.

I think I am going to have to go - and once you have to "diet" incorporated into your life I am sure it is pretty simple. Much like once you get used to the IBS diet.

Thanks,

That's so strange that the meetings are all early. Here in Denver they have several evening meetings and even meetings on Saturdays. Maybe it is different where you are. Check out the website, though because like I said, there is a way to do the whole program on line - you even weigh in at home and record your weight each week. I guess that keeps you honest since someone, somewhere knows if you are cheating, besides you! Good luck!

I currently do Weight Watchers too, Lana. I do the entire thing online (never been to a meeting - with my schedule? yeah right) and not only does it help keep my weight in check, but it is also a good way for me to journal what foods I eat. Check out the website and get an online tour. The point system is VERY easy to understand.

Plus - if you sign up for the website, you have access to a ton of recipes. All the recipes are low in fat and I have found a lot that I can use or modify for my IBS. I've lost a total of 10 lbs combining the WW and Heather's diet (and that's with all my cheating too! )) Unfortunately I've been stuck at my current weight now for a couple months and know that exercise will probably be the one thing that puts me over the plateau.

And although it's tempting to say tomorrow (which is what I usually say!) I'm going to be supportive and say we'll start this week with the beginning of the week starting on Mondays.. that way we have two extra weekend days to get in the last of our exercise.

Jennifer,

I should really look into WW too. I was signed up for the site to receive recipes but that was last year and I didn't bake so I don't know WHY I signed up for it then.

I am sorry, but I never worked out last night - we had a crazy night at home. My husband got a promotion and things were pretty exciting at home.

Tonight I will do my best to work out for 30 minutes NO MATTER WHAT!

How did you do last night....did you work out?

No - I had school last night right after work and I've been getting up early for work so it was straight to bed for me. Since no school tonight (only 2 nights a week), I am planning to pop in my yoga tape for 45 minutes (although I'll probably wimp out at 20-30 mins lol)

I made yummy shrimp and garlic linguine and have told myself that I don't get to eat any until I exercise! lol

I used to have to do that when I started the diet. If you don't binge now - you can have a snack in less than two hours. LOL. It was like I was dealing with a two year old inside of me!

Well - I don't feel so bad about not doing it last night too LOL. We will have to make a commitment to do it tonight. For Sure!

Support is always a good thing. I do weight watchers as well (I'm a "lifetime member" which means I lost my weight... 45 lbs... and have kept it off... going on two years now) and the support there is key (from meetings and online). By the way it's not a "diet" in the sense that the IBS diet is: there are no prohibited foods. Period. It's more a way of keeping track of your calories eaten and calories burned, and keeping them in the right range for weight loss. I highly recommend it but not if you just want to lose a few pounds.

You could form a daily support thread for IBS people losing weight, on the Weight Watcher's site (posting and reading messages is free and doesn't require that you are doing WW). I'm on a couple of those. They're VERY helpful. I'd say post one here but hte way the board works here makes it less convenient to start a daily check-in thread.

We can do a daily thing.. or maybe a weekly thread since there's only 2 of us on the bandwagon right now (anyone else jump on!) But I think I am going to move this thread over to the Living Room boards.

We could even start posting in the living room with something that says "Support Group check in Sept 15-19"

Maybe then just by glancing people will know that it's a seperate thread?
