I have been D for many years and now it is both and the dr put me on zelnorm for the constipation .well I had quitted it once and he gave me some more samples he said I was not to quit this and plus he gave me other stuff as well. when I am C I get really sick at times including puking due to food not digesting well. but when I am D I get really bad pain . he said I should be having a bowel movement at least once a day.

If you are having diarrhea *AT ALL*, you should NOT be on Zelnorm. Period.
As for him saying you should have a bowel movement once a day, that's not necessarily true either. The range of "normal", as I've read in a few places, can be as frequent as 3 times a day, or as infrequent as once every 3 days. Insisting on a BM every single day isn't necessarily the healthiest thing, either - some people's bodies just don't do that.

I agree...BMs are not consistent with everyone...and I have also heard that Zelnorm is not for IBS-D...I take buscopan and modulan for IBS-D...the buscopan is only on a need be basis..the modulon so far, is 3 times a day....I also take Metamucil to help with BMs. Hope that helps
