I had no idea that stevia was safe.

what does it taste like? Is it worth trying?

I'm from Houston as well. I actually live in Katy. Glad to see other Houstonians on the boards.

Oh, and I use Stevia as well and love it!!

Is Equal a safe sweetener substitue for sugar? My weight is going up and my self esteem down. Is Stevia ok to use for IBS A? Thanks for your smarts. I need them!!! Hugs to everyone.

I live in Kingwood....I so love all of the trees here! We moved from Spring over the summer.

I have a speaking engagement tomorrow down in the Memorial area and will be stopping by either Whole Foods or Central Market to load up on my Stevia-Plus.

I wish they would put a Central Market or Whole Foods in the northern part of Houston. It would make my life soo much easier!

I have been using it for over a year now and it keeps me stable. I have terrible "C" without it but the fiber in the Stevia-Plus is what I thank God for every time I drink my coffee.

I don't know about baking with it...I have never tried. Stevia isn't cheap so baking with it isn't cost effective.

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! Equal is not safe as an artificial sweetner alternative. Honestly, IT HAS SENT ME INTO HIDEOUSLY EVIL SPASMODIC PAINFUL ATTACKS!!! It's aspertame/nutrasweet!
I'm pretty sure that "Equal" brand contains lactose too. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK, just know that IT IS NOT IBS-safe.

Stevia, however, is generally safe to use.

Kate.

No. it should be sold as a sugar sub and not as a dietary "supplement" new

the FDA won't let it be a sugar substitute.

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

and I am growing some. Eating even a corner of a leaf is sickly sweet. It is potent stuff!
