let me start off by saying im 19 and have always lived a normal life , however this past year has made me a shadow of my former self, i devopled gastropaeries out of know where, its where your stomach decides not to work anymore and you have nausea, belching, no appetite, weight loss, etc. its been a nightmare and now i have depression and aniexty, a few months ago i stopped my meds for my stomach bc i thought it was working again. and it was, i was eating normal and no bloating, however i was going to the bathroom like 7 times a day. my gi said it was ibs prob from the aniexty(which is extreme and im currently not working or in school bc of it), he did a colonoscopy and endoscopy and said they were normal except i had a lil scarring on my throat from acid, he gave me antispamtics and told me i need to change my life. So i was eating bland and i felt good then it switched up to constipation, to make a long story short i have no appetite, extreme nausea, stomach pain (it feels so good to do a crunch like squeeze my stomach together) and i never feel like i never have to go to the bathroom and when i force myself its in tiny pecies. is this ibs? is ibs constant or does it come and go?for the past few weeks my symptoms have been mild and in my lower abdomen, however within the past week things have gotten worse and moved to my upper abdomen no pain at all in my lower abdomen everyting is above my belly button, it almost feels like i ate something rotten, i bought the acadia powder and the cook book and im trying that . any thoughts would be greatly appricated thankyou mike

The upper pain is probably caused by reflux (which I think you probably have judging by the scarring in your throat) however you didn't mention you had that. Most of the pain under the ribs and in the upper area is the food coming back up and burning (gross I know, sorry). You should be on a medication like Zantac or Nexium to help with that. The costipation does sound like IBS and yes it can switch from diarreah to constipation without warning. IBS can be constant for some people (like me) where as others it comes and goes like yours does. If your GP has diagnosed it as IBS then that's probably what it is. Stress is also a major trigger for IBS symtoms (like me for instance, stress is more of a trigger for me than food). Welcome to the boards, have a look around, read all Heather's diet info and hopefully you will soon be feeling a little better.
