I was bored and was going through old posts and found one about water intake and how important it is. I know that I don't always get in my 70 ounces, even though the benefits that I would reap from doing that are incredible. And it's such a simple thing to do!
So, I thought I'd be a dork and start the Chug-a-lug Club. Each morning (or whenever you check this board) grab a glass of water to drink while reading posts. Can't think of an easier way to get in at least 12 ounces. Stick a lemon in it if water makes you gag. Post here after you get yers down ye 'ol hatch!
You should be drinking one-half ounce of water per pound of body weight.
Cheers!

Good idea, Jules....
I "tip the bottle" all day long. I have an old 32oz. Gatorade bottle that I fill with water and try to drink the whole thing during my day here at work. Then I drink more at night when I get home. The one event that turned me on to making sure I drink enough water was an attack with kidney stones a year ago. Worst pain I have had in my life! So at the advice of my doc, I make sure I drink lots of water. I also drink cranberry juice on a suggestion of my doc.
cheers to you, too!

OK.... I've had 9oz so far.... but now my tea is ready (does tea count as water?)
As for that 1/2oz per LB body weight.....I better hook up an IV & Cath....cuz I would have to drink 150oz...... yes, I'm a big girl...BUT NOT FOR LONG now that I've found Heather & the gang here.... I feel good enough to start walking in the evenings.... I may join the gym again soon too!!
Thanks Jules for reminding me how MUCH I should be drinking...I normally get in about 67oz (not counting tea)

I think (and this goes back to the WW theory) that de-caffeinated non-carbonated beverages count as water.
So, steep away!

I never knew I needed to drink THAT much water! I agree with the hook-me-up to an IV and Cath comment. Oh well, I guess it's about time I spend more time in the bathroom. Laters...time to go process this tall glass of water I just chugged!

You are too funny Jules - glad you are on board! I remember two or three years ago I was watching Oprah and a woman on the show said if you are not going to the bathroom every hour than you are not getting enough water. My husband doesn't like to take me on road trips, because I'm worse than the kids about having to go potty.

Shell, I really hope you do get back to the gym - I know that's one of the things that helps me the most. I do a half-hour of cardio and 10-15 minutes of weights every work day at lunchtime and do a lot of walking / household chores on weekends. Keeping me moving (which I believe Heather's book recommends anyway)keeps everything moving!
Don't forget that exercise doesn't have to be "go to the gym", either - lots of things, like gardening, housework, even grocery shopping can be an effective workout (especially at peak periods!) But I think that walking is probably the best because you literally set your own pace.
Keep it up!
