Of course they're going to show something like that... it's advertising. They want you to believe that if you use their product, you'll be "cured". Which is crap, of course.
I'm glad I know now that they've changed the ingredients. From now on, when I see one of those inevitable 3748936593 posts about Digestive Advantage, I'll be sure to slam it. I'm sure they changed it because so many people are still on the ridiculous low-carb/low-sugar bandwagon, but you're right - it just proves how little they know about IBS.

Wow!, and to think I was just about to eat two of them this morning. By the way, what exactly is mannitol, and I gather it is a trigger?

It's another artificial sweetener. The -tol sweeteners - sorbitol, maltitol, mannitol - are sugar alcohols, very popular right now with the low-carb craze, and they're especially bad for people with IBS. Products containing maltitol, for example, are often packaged with a warning that they may cause diarrhea and cramping... and that's for people who don't have IBS, so it's 10 times worse for us!
And yeah, that's another one I know from personal experience, too.

Just avoid artificial sweeteners - they are so bad for you even if you don't have IBS!

Dear Hearts-you know, everyone seems to have horror stories about Splenda-but I've been drinking diet coke with Splenda and it doesn't seem to affect me.You know-concentration may have a lot to do with it:the amount of Splenda present in the soda may not be high enough to cause a problem.Taking it straight like sugar out of a box may take us over the line,as it were.Anyone want to comment on this? Sincerely, Andrew L.

hmm.. i've been using TONS of splenda every day for the past 2 yrs. I only just started having IBS symptoms, and I've cut out dairy, most IF, and coffee.. but I haven't tried giving up splenda. I just don't know if I can. I love the stuff! I even named my cat after it. If I switched to using sugar for everything I use splenda for, I'd be taking in so many excess empty calories, and I don't want to do that! ugh...

splenda is a chemical and it will cause a whole list of different sicknesses/pains in the long run with continued/extended use. SPLENDA SICKNESS if you want to see more.

but can in the long run and so who would purposely ingest those things? My very unhealthy eating BIL was hooked on nutra sweet and didn't want the cals of sugar but then he started having symptoms similar to nutra sweet overload. His hands and feet were tingly and he had to be tested for MS, scared the family with thinking he could have MS and then did research on nutra sweet. Even he has given it up. It is sort of like continuing to smoke since you might gain weight when you quit. anything that has you "hooked" is bad news IMO. (oh wait I am addicted to chocolate again I think!)
-------------------- IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

Well, ok, not exactly denial, but as LM said in the post just above yours, a lot of products don't have immediate negative effects, but cause damage in the long run. At the very least, you're setting yourself up for a whopper of an attack when your body suddenly decides that it can't take it anymore (like my body did when I refused to give up coffee for so many years).
