Marinara sauce. I thought maybe I could handle it in small quantities, but now it appears that I can't do it so well. Cooked tomatoes, though, seem OK, so I'll need to do some more investigating unless someone has an idea why marinia would do it specifically.

It often has alot of oil in it so it could be that.

I would second the oil.

I envy you being able to eat cooked tomatoes in general, though. It seems tomato sauces are no longer my friend. *sigh* No more pizza, lasagne, etc.

I've only been able to use it as a base, not as the primary. Like if I make chili or something.

And it goes like this: Marinara is processed! it is heated to very high temps and this changes the structure of the tomato. So...cooked tomatoes might be ok cause they aren't heated to the same degree as the sauce.

I'm betting it's the oil though to be honest! I know that if I eat PLAIN Hunt's tomato sauce and add my own spices I'm FINE! However...I have a tendency to OVER INDULGE in tomatoes and that was where his theory came into play.

Sorry if this is confusing? Feeling a bit fuzzy...

I'll be the weirdo and suggest maybe the seasonings, if it's not the oil. I'm crazy intolerant to oregano, which means there's only ONE BRAND (Ragu) of tomato sauce I can eat (because everyone else lists "spices", as opposed to listing basil, garlic, etc, which makes it impossible to know until later if you're eating oregano or not).

i have the same problem with marinara sauce. which, as a pasta/pizza-loving vegetarian, is very sad. (going out to an italian restaurant tonight. no red sauce, no cream sauce, no oil, no meat - ?!?)

the oil stuff seems to make sense, but as someone with fatty foods being a *major* trigger, it's a different feeling when i eat marinara sauce (a much worse feeling, too). maybe it's the cooked tomatoes in combination with the oil? but pasta sauce gets me like almost nothing else.
