I went health food shopping and found, what I'm hoping to be a lot of great finds, I have a question about soy, has anyone ever ate frozen soy beans shelled??? I bought a bag and my bother in law said they are delicious, and since they are already shelled would they be SF or IF??? And is soy S or IF??? What about gen soy brand soy crisps, the ingredients seem good???
Also I found tofrutti, and veganiaise. Going to give them both a try.

I really like soy beans. I think that the shelled beans are mostly SF. If you're not used to soy, you might want to try a beano before you eat these to avoid lots of gas.
I haven't tried the gen soy brand soy crisps.
I just tried Tofutti Cuties ("Ice cream" sandwiches) and they are the best thing ever (that's not chocolate)! I like them better than normal ice cream sandwiches!

I think that in general, if you're talking about soy products - like soymilk, tofu, etc - it's neither SF nor IF. It's like chicken & fish that way... kinda neutral.
Soy beans I would treat as IF... but that's just me. If it's something that grows (fruit, veg, legume, etc) and I'm in doubt, I treat it as an IF food until I know differently, just to be on the safe side.

Casey, Heather lists soy on the SF list . I always thought the innards of the beans (what's used for soy milk) were SF and the skins were probably IF.

So she does. My bad. Shows you how often I check that list anymore!
I just can't help thinking of soy beans like any other legume. I know the ones in question here are shelled, but doesn't that mean they still have skins? I would treat them like IF in that case. I can't imagine removing the skins from a pile of any kind of bean!
