Hi Carol - No, I'm not a Portagee but my husband is. From the Azores - Terceda (sp?). I'm Russian, Polish (don't tell anybody) and Jewish. How's that for a combo?

Linz - yeh, it's pricey IMO. w/shipping and handling comes to $21.98 for 30 itty-bitty pills. I ordered one month's worth. My husband said it's worth a try since i've tried other pre and probiotics, including Heather's Acacia which, on my weird system, doesn't work all the time and I take it faithfully every day. Just ask Heather--she's got the purchase records. I still fart and have gas and bloat for no reason. Had my colonscopy about a month ago and will see the doc next Thursday and see what he has to say. Said they found a polyp but I don't know anything else yet except that he started the procedure that day with me no being "out" and I started yelling at him and he, in turn, started yelling at the anesthesiologist. Don't remember anything after that.

Kandee - looked up VSL#3 and it's strange that you take it w/food. Doesn't all our stomach acid kill the little "buggers" before they get to our gut??? Howzzatwork?

Kandee - sorry to ask this as I don't have time to look up everything (since I just moved my store downtown and busier than a long tailed cat in a room filled with rocking chairs), BUT what is your SFS regiment?????

I've always taken mine with food, even though some manufacturers say not to. According to the article I quoted, this is what they had to say about that.

Quote:

Probiotics should be taken with food or shortly after eating as food dilutes the stomach acids enough for them to survive their trip through to the intestines where they belong.

Good luck on your move ...I remember when you first started your shop! BUT what is your SFS regiment????? About 30-40 g. of soluble fiber supplement taken throughout the day, starting early in the day with Acacia and ending with Konsyl just before bed. (I'm one of those mixers of different kinds and brands of SFS.)..Keep in mind I'm a "C" so I need all the dynamite I can get.
Besides "THE" diet....SFS is just 1/3 of what I personally deem necessary DAILY supplementation to stay stable, the other 1/3 is probiotics and the other 1/3 digestive enzymes...important as we get older..(sigh )

About $2.50 per dose, give or take, depending on what size box you buy. But if you figure it per billion is a fraction of a penny. Kandee
