Read this in my morning newspaper:
A chinese medical research team has discover that drinking two glass a day of cranberry juice (of course, not the light version for IBS!) can prevent stomach ulcers. They have publish a paper about it in the medical journal Helicobacter.
A Quebec researcher, Charles Couillard, has also shown that cranberry juice can prevent heart disese.
And of course, Heather says it's a safe choice for IBS.

It's great for kidney and bladder problems, too. Before I was born my grandfather's dr. told him to drink it, and he did, every single day. He also ate a cranberry sauce sandwich for his snack. They told him he had a year to live in 1946 and he died when I was around 20. (1967)

Absolutely correct!! In additon to IBS, I unfortunately have an enlarged prostate, and I couldn't afford to have the IBS inhibiting urination also, which it was whenever I had large pressure buildup in the sigmoid colon which happens too often to be tolerable. My Dad told me to start drinking at least 8oz of cranberry juice a day. So, I did, and within a *week*, I was pissing like a race horse. I think the stuff is better than the damn Flomax my urologist put me on. So, YES, it sure does help bladder and urination problems!

I've read the same thing. I have h.pylori. I'm taking cran. capsules, currently. I also have been reading that honey is powerful in fighting ulcers, h. pylori, bacterial infections, etc. Apparently the enzymatic activities of honey also produce hydrogen peroxide , which generate highly active free radicals, which kill bacteria. I know that honey has osmotic properties--it tends to withdraw water and that water molecules strongly react with the sugars in honey, leaving little water available for micro-organisms.
There are a lot of C recipes/tonics--rooted in folklore--centered around honey.
It's also great topically applied to wounds, bites, and infections.

I read somewhere it's bad for depression? Anyone else heard this? I would LOVE to eat honey again...it feels soooo good when I have GERD (now I know why!)

It's totally wonderful for depression--it's naturally NERVE/MOOD soothing. It's great for GERDs too. And, if you're C prone, it will make you a regular "Pooh Bear." It's great for indigestion.
Here's a few ancient "tonics:"
"All Systems Go" tonic:
--4 tsp. honey --juice of 1/2 a large lemon --2/3 c. warm water
Mix the above in a cup and drink as a a daily morning tonic before breakfast. Taken before breakfast, regularily, it will help cleanse your system by acting as a mild laxative and promoting liver function.
Here's a "DIGESTIVE BOOSTER" old time digestive aid:
--1 T honey --1 T apple cider vinegar --1 c. water
The acidity of honey (it has a pH of 3.2-4.5)is supposed to inhibit the growth of bacteria.
For a relaxing bath, add honey to your water. It will soothe your skin and your nerves. Even better if you have some lavender oil--hmm....I think I'm going to have a honey lavender bath, tonight.

Cranberry Juice is definetly one of my triggers. I am not allowed to have it. Cranberry pills dont make me sick, so I take those whenever I get the chance.
