I'm not diagnosed with IBS, because my stupid doctor was sucking, and telling me that there was nothing wrong with me, and i was so frusterated from it....i've lost 20 pounds since febuary (i'm 107ish now) and i'm 5'5...i'm not sickly looking, but obviously my family and FIANCE(!!) are worried about me...so i am going to tell them i've had problems for over 2 1/2 years, and can't handle dairy, lactose, whey, hfcs, high fat foods, coffee...etc...and i'm DEMANDING to be treated like it's a real problem....and i wont leave until they do...if they say that it's just a weak tummy....i'll not budge until they agree to do tests on me...and that i need some meds.....i've had d not bad...but for the last 2 days...and gassy like a moth..you know....and pains in my tummy...and thats making me extremly tired...
so is there any other things i can do to be treated seriously????

Try asking for a medical definition of a "weak tummy"! And if they still try to fob you off say you'll be lodging a complaint for not being taken seriously and will be seeking a second opinion.

is that your primary doc or the specialist- maybe you should go strait to GI...

Take a look at these links:

From Eating For IBS
Be sure to mention the weight loss - that always gets doctors' attention.
If you haven't had all the appropriate tests, then your doctor should definitely be willing to do them and rule out other problems before diagnosing you with IBS. If you're seeing a GI guy, remember you also need to make sure your gynecologist knows about your problems to rule out any trouble there.
If, after all the tests, your final diagnosis is IBS, please do keep in mind that there is very little doctors can do for it. Now that I'm sure IBS is the right diagnosis for me, I've decided the most I can hope for from my GI is to take me seriously, not scoff at diet changes I've found help me, and be willing to try medications that might help.
Good luck.
