IBS Remedy (IBSACOL)

Before i sampled this supplement, i did a fair amount of reading on the web to find out some background info. I even saw the previous posts on here talking about it and how Heather wasnt too keen on the concept to the supplement.

Regardless i can say (although still early) that it has helped more so than anything i have ever been on. I have been suffering with IBS(constipation) since jan'03 and i have been on Dicetel, Librax, Paxil and Primal Defense. All of them had there moments of acclaim, but were very short lived and didnt have as much of an overall effect.

Ive been on IBSACOL for over a month and i now have regular bowel movements daily (even up to 3 times a day sometimes). Sure the stool is still soft, but passing waste on a regular basis makes me feel 100% better. (obviously)

When you order from ibsacol.com, I believe you have to order a minimum of 2 bottles which = 360 capsules. You start out by taking 2 capsules in the morning, 2 midday (say around 3-5pm) and 2 before you go to bed. You do this for the first 2 weeks and after the 2 weeks you will increase to 3 pills per dose. They say to increase the capsules if you need to see improvement, but i stayed at 3(9 per day). The key to all of this is water. I mean you have to at least drink 8+ glasses of water for this to be effective. You will go to the washroom a lot at first. Best thing is to drink 1 full glass of water with each dose and then just drink water all day.

The first 2 months are what they call the loading phase. After that they say you can take say 2-3 pills once a day and be fine all day. Im not there yet, but ill keep you posted.

The first 2 weeks of starting IBSACOL i did notice my throat felt as if it was swollen (not like sore throat swollen), i was fairly tired at points, and it didnt look like my bowel movements were improving. I even had diarrhea once in the first week. Beyond that things got better when i didnt think they were getting better. Just be patient.

The bowel movements are pretty much dependent on what you eat. For instance if i decide to eat mcdonalds or something a long those lines, I only had one bowel movement the next day. The best thing you can do is once you have been on the pill for a while, test its limits and what you can or cannot eat. I didnt stretch the limits too far, but even a little bit of alcohol didnt sit too well with me. I got all bloated within a few hours and felt like i was going to blow up.

I admit i was weary ordering a product overseas, but im at the point where i need to take back control of my life instead of living life next to a toilet. I took the chance and it has worked out better than i expected.

Im not saying this pill is going to work for everyone, nor am i saying you can eat all the greasy foods you want, but for me i have been given some serious breathing room in what i could not eat before. I know greasy take out foods are not good for anyone regardless of your health situation, but at least i know that i can still have them at least once a month or so and not worry about sh*tting my pants.

Why is Heather agains this product? What exactly does it contain? Does it contain Senna or something bad like that?

Here is a quote from Heathers previous comments

-BEGIN-
My main problem with Ibsacol (and I've never tried it) is that they haven't had the product studied in independent clinical trials, with journal-published results. That's the standard that medical products (from drugs to soluble fiber supplements to herbal remedies) need to meet in order to show that they're effective.

I also wonder about their comments that Ibsacol has anti-inflammatory properties, and that that somehow relates to IBS as an inflammatory bowel disorder. IBS is NOT an inflammatory bowel disorder, and in fact any sign of inflammation in an IBS patient would preclude a diagnosis of IBS and point to Crohn's or ulcerative colitis instead. So Ibsacol is mis-categorizing IBS itself, which makes me wonder how their product would help a disorder they're not even properly understanding.
-END-

-----------------------------------------------------
IBSACOL Definition from there site -
Made from the purest plant sources, Ibsacol contains a patented fatty acid ester compound specifically formulated for an irritable bowel and associated symptoms - both the diarrhea and constipation.

What is Ibsacol made from ?

We have developed Ibsacol ( active ingredient Meracol ) from an Asian-Pacific edible plant source.

I did suffer from cramping before bowel movements which resulted in D. I was both IBS D & C. I would be C for like 3 days and then have D etc etc.

Dairy would usually upset my stomach before, but things seem to be better now. To be honest, i havent gone full out trying a whole pizza or anything like that, but ive had dairy in small doses and its ok.

Im not invincible with these pills, so im not saying eat what you want all the time, small doses once in a while should be fine.

For example i can eat food at like east side marios, mcdonalds, chinese and feel fine. But this type of eating should be done sparingly.

it sounds like you are working for the company. Or are you just trying to help us? We've had problems with people trying to promote their products on the web site before.

I hope your intentions are honorable and that this product reall is worth investing in.

they emailed me back asking if I could tolerate butter. Well, butter is high fat and an IBS trigger food. Is this product high in fat and is that why they want to know if I can handle eating butter?

Roan, are you taking anything else besides this? I'm really interested in trying it, if it helps.

For the record, I quoted that info directly from the website.

As for working for the company, im almost flattered by that comment. I didnt have to post any messages about my experience with these pills, BUT i did so that maybe someone else could see light at the end of the tunnel. If you think im on here to shill for a company, think again.

At first i was taking the swiss lactobacillus capsules(the good bacteria pills, forget the full name) mid day, but then i stopped. So im only taking these pills.

I hope to whoever takes these is as fortunate as i have been. Now, I may not feel 100% (whoever is anyway), but the improvements in my way of life since taking them have been night and day.

lol. Why on earth would they ask that? For the record i have butter on my bread every morning and on my muffins and no side effects. I dont know what they are asking that for. When i e-mailed them, they never asked such questions.

I guess it just seems a bit fishy when someone who never posts on the board shows up with a "cure."

I'm really glad to hear that you're feeling better. I'm supposed to go to Dallas for a week to do an intense round of tests with the best GI specialists in the area in a few weeks, so I'll probably wait til then. But definitely if they don't find anything.

Thanks!

Just because it was your first post...sorry if I was suspicious. There are a lot of long time posters here, and no one has yet to find there answer in a bottle of something you buy.

Sorry again if I came across accusatory.

Can this product only be bought on line or do some HFS carry it?

Understood. From what ive seen, its only available online through the website, although amazon.com (and not .CA) carries it. Not that it says much, but for me, that means the pill has some wide recognition.

Best of luck with your tests!

I would encourage anyone to go through all the tests and try all the other stuff, but just be aware there is a last resorts of sorts with this supplement. I was tired of the books, miracle teas, eating like a rabbit and prescriptions that had a short term effect. I was personally near the end of the rope.
