When I had my done I was told I could have very little fat and I think it was only 12 hours before. Anyways, the night before I had a piece of broiled fish with no fat, rice and cooked veggie. I hope that helps a bit.

Thanks. I remember when I had gall bladder ultrasound last year the instructions were about same. Why for kidneys I don't know.

Also advised that I can eat chicken with rice but not the skin which I wouldn't eat anyway.

But no dairy products

Hi - exactly a year ago (the day after labor day last year) I had a gallbladder ultrasound, and they said to have a fat free meal the evening before. I was told I could have skinless chicken breasts and anything that was fat free, including milk, so I guess yours may be a little different with kidneys.

Anyway, I had grilled chicken breast, baked potato, and steamed baby carrots.

Sounds good.

I thought it was same for gall bladder but apparently instructions have changed a little as same procedure is used for both and it does say 24 hours.

What annoyed me about my procedure for the gall bladder is that I was told by doctor that I had fractured vertebrae giving me problem. When I questioned a doctor on the internet about pain killers he suggested that I return to physician and demand ultrasound of gall bladder because that is what it sounded like to him.

I did just that and that was my problem.
