Bad Week.... Wanted to Vent!

Hi everyone! I don't really have anyone I can complain to about this and have them understand, and I am so frustrated with things at this point I think it will help to just do some complaining and get it out of my system!

I've been following this diet and taking zelnorm for a month now. First few weeks were great, but no matter what I do this week, I feel terrible! I can rarely eat anything without some sort of consequence (usually pain, sometimes bloating or gas), and I am constantly fatigued. I've been trying to get more protein to counteract the fatigue but it's not working. I'm so tired I want to cry!

Also, as creative as I can be in the kitchen, my cravings for regular food have gotten really bad this week. I plan to make a few of the IBS safe recipes this weekend to try to boost my spirits, but that's assuming I don't spend the whole weekend sleeping!

Then I saw my GP this week. When my IBS came up she actually had the nerve to say, "Is it really that bad?" Um, don't they teach doctors on the first day of med school to not say stuff like that? And yes, I am planning on finding a new doctor.

The only bright spot of my IBS Hell Week is I had my follow up with the GI specialist and the dear sweet man gave me enough sample packages of zelnorm to last me for the next two months! He is probably the nicest doctor I have ever met. I will have to send him something to thank him for his help! That man saved me a lot of money!

Anyway, I just wanted to say it really helps to read everyone's posts, whether it be advice, good news about feeling better, recipes, or just the plain old hang in there! My tummy has really been bringing me down so it helps to know I'm not the only one out there that feels so lousy.

Have a good weekend everyone!

I am so sorry you are having it rough right now. Glad your looking for a new doc and happy you found a good GI doc. I don't have any words of wisdom (still working out the diet and supplements myself) but just wanted to let you know I care and hope you get relief soon.

Sorry you're not having a good week! I know how frustrating it is when you can't seem to eat anything, no matter how safe, without having problems! And your doc was definitely way out of line with that comment... some of mine have given me the impression that they're thinking that, but they've never come out and said it! Definitely ditch the doc, lol. Anyway, I'm actually in a similar situation as you this week. I had a horrible attack last Thurs night after going out to eat, even though I got something that should have been totally safe and even double checked with the waitress that it didn't contain any dairy. Now ever since then I haven't been able to eat anything without my tummy going crazy, so I've been living off toast and Honeycombs. Then last night I had another totally unprovoked attack. IBS is so frustrating sometimes... but at those times we just have to force ourselves to follow the diet and remember that we will become stable once again. I guess sometimes we just have to get these things out of our systems. Anyway, I just wanted you to know that you're not alone. Hopefully we'll both feel better ASAP. Take care!
