Is Bulgar Wheat safe?
Went out for a meal to celebrate my birthday at weekend and had Bulgar Wheat with chicken - does not appear to have been a problem and I really liked it! (that will mean its not allowed!!)

I'm not 100% sure but I know it's cracked wheat so will probably still have the outer IF layer on it. Would probably be okay in small doses with a SF base although I could be wrong as whole wheat is a no no food. Always the way isn't it? Our favourites are ALWAYS evil

It's IF fiber too, which means, like you said, that it has to be eaten with a SF base.

I would treat bulgur the same way. If you ate it and were fine, super! Just be sure to eat SF foods with it, and it should continue to be just fine.

I have a bag of bulgur in the cupboard. I think making tabbouleh out of it would be too IF for me but I have used it in burgers. I originally bought it to make DH lamb burgers from a Gourmet mag recipe. Mixing cooked bulgur with something else would probably be ok.
Some people are better with handling IF than others. I think I handle it pretty good but handle fat pretty bad. Hope this helps.

IBS-A for 20 years with terrible bloating and gas. On the diet since April 2004. Remember this from Heather's information pages:
"You absolutely must eat insoluble fiber foods, and as much as safely possible, but within the IBS dietary guidelines. Treat insoluble fiber foods with suitable caution, and you'll be able to enjoy a wide variety of them, in very healthy quantities, without problem." Please eat IF foods!

It probably depends on whether you suffer more from D or C. I'm predominantly C, and I need more IF in my diet. I will actually have whole wheat toast for breakfast, or Shredded Wheat, I snack on Triscuits. I have to have that extra IF, and it doesn't bother me. My guess is if your problem is D, it'd probably be too much IF.
