You are totally right re: stewed and pureed fruit. It's divine and goes down so smoothly, easier than a raw fruit-based smoothie. I made some babyfood strawberries today--it barely takes 5 minutes and they're sitting better than the raw strawberries in the blender. I wonder if cooking the fruit makes it easier on the gut to process/assimilate without distress? I left mini-batch number one, plain. Any thoughts fellow food processor junkie? The house smells better than a candle shop. Don't laugh, but somehow I think that a carrot blended with the strawberries would be good. I saw a recipe which combined stewed peeled pear with spinach in the blender. Imagine that for breakfast with maybe some oatmeal!

Is there a thread somewhere on all your recipes? I would love to bookmark them as my favorites so that I can refer back to them. But since you are not doing raw anymore, maybe your earlier ones wouldn't be applicable---I can't do raw either and I'm a C not a D like you are.

So, how do you make these fruit sauces? Which fruits have you tried? Any suggestions for blueberries?

Do you even cook then process your mango/papayas now too? I remember from before you weren't cooking them since they are SF.

Also, when you add your basil to your green monsters, do you cook that first? I bought some basil this weekend and don't know how to use it. Maybe I'll just finely chop it and add it to my spinach as it cooks. I just use frozen, chopped spinach so, no need to process it. But I don't know how or when I would add the fresh basil to green beans before or after I puree them? And how do I cook Basil anyhow?

Maybe it would be better for me to try and eat the fruits raw since I am a C? Just finely chop them.

I just cook the fruit, i.e. stew it/bake it and then pulverize it in the blender. It's the same process as making applesauce. You can, however get creative with the sauce-making process and play with the simmering liquids! It's just like making baby food! I suppose you could even strain it. You can can do it with just a little water or a little juice, alcohol, vinegar, etc. You can add sugar/honey/maple syrup/stevia, etc., two...cinnamon, cloves, ginger, etc. Sometimes, I take a raw recipe and just adapt it by cooking it--adding that dreaded element, HEAT!!! (Raw foodists are really anti-heating food as it "destroys enzymes")
Blueberries are like little indigo peas, so keep that in mind when you add flame to them. Adding some sf fruit or eating them with sf is a good idea. It really makes a big difference. Perhaps blueberry/apple? (when I say apple, I mean a bit of peeled apple in with the blueberries--and there are so many varieties to choose from.
Blueberry/banana? Blueberry/Pear? Just take a walk through the baby food aisle and you'll see what I mean. Blueberry/apple/plum would be delightful. Blueberry/nectarine? Blueberry/zucchini? Use your imagination! It would be a great sauce/dressing/condiment for squash! Blueberry/carrot sounds yummy to me. A sort of adaptation of that infamous raspberry dressing. Blueberry/beet would be really really good.

Mango and papaya don't seem to bug me. But, now that you mention it, I think I'll try cooking them!

I think I've turned into Prometheus!!!

I generally cook the herbs. It tends to release the flavours. I might use a very very small amount of fresh as garnish. Herbs cook just as fast as fresh spinach.

Incidentally, I use fresh baby spinach, but if I used chopped frozen spinach, I WOULD PUT IT IN THE FOOD PROCESSOR.

I cannot, I regret, answer your last question re: how to eat your food. That is up to you to determine. Finely chopping, though, is a good idea.

Hehe... yes I cook everything pretty much. Well, I don't think I've ever tried stewing blueberries. But yeah, I do cook my mangoes and papayas (usually just in the microwave though) before blending them. I don't know, I think it makes them easier to digest - it would make sense if it did!

Blueberries with other safer fruits is a really common combo for me - blueberries and apple(sauce) and blueberries wtih mango are both divine.

And NOW my dear, you have me thinking about fruit and vegetable combinations!

I will advise. I used to do this all the time!!! Spinach is great with apple or pear or mango and even banana. Beet is lovely with blueberry. Apple carrot is delightful Carrot/strawberry is pretty good, too, even apple/carrot/strawberry is pretty good. I haven't tried it yet, but I suspect that peach/beet would be good. I think peach/zucchini would be good, too. You can't beat a beat.
