Hi all, I'm sort of new here. I posted a few times months ago and have basically just been lurking since then. Anyway at work we get this health magazine and Cybill Shepherd is on the cover and she did an interivew talking about how she wants to bring awareness to IBS. I had no idea she had it. Anyway, I did a quick search on-line to see if it was out there and this was the first thing I came up with. I'll scan the article I have later but just thought it might interest some people....this is an article I found about her...

This is cool - I never knew she had IBS either. Though it kind of bugs me that this is a not-so-cleverly masked advertising campaign for Zelnorm ... I guess anything that gets the word out about IBS is a good thing!

Welcome to the Boards (in non-lurking mode - I wonder if we all lurked before we joined in - I know I did). Thanks for the link.

Yeah, in my article in the magazine she mentioned tegaserod maleate but didn't name Zelnorm specifically. But I guess it helps some people so that's not such a bad thing.

She's been an "advertiser" for this drug almost since it came out a few years ago now. It usually stops working after a short time.
Guess she's either one of the lucky ones who it continues to help....or she's making lots of money being the advocate for the drug!
I just hope people don't get the wrong idea and think that zelnorm is the answer, or the miracle drug for IBS because it isn't for the majority of us. They must keep looking for other treatments and drugs and not put all this hype on zelnorm, IMHO.
Either way, I agree, good promotion awareness for IBS!

In the article I read she wasn't pushing the drug at all. She actually talks about exercising and following a healthy, IBS-safe diet and such. I'm sure Zelnorm would be all over having her as their poster child but at least in this article that isn't the case. There isn't an ad or even mention of the brand name Zelnorm at all in the magazine.
