Hi everyone... I am new to IBS and I am sometimes reckless with what I eat. I am IBS-D and I noticed that sometimes I get an attack immediately after or as I am eating something bad. But other times I can eat bad foods and not have an attack for a couple of days... I am thinking when the food gets to my colon. For instance, this Sunday I had pizza for dinner... cheese, bacon and all. And I didn't get sick. Then Tuesday (about the time the food made it to my colon?) I did, but I also had a big meeting for work and was anxious about that as well, which might have caused the attack. Any thoughts/experiences? BTW, I am still wrapping up some tests to make sure it is just IBS.
Thanks, Olivia

I find if I cheat and have pizza it all depends on how full I stuff myself to if I will get "D" or not. If I just eat until I am just full I will not have an attack.
Also - stress will add to your "D" problems. Even if you eat everything right if you are stressed out you may have an attack.
I really don't cheat all that much with the diet just simply because it causes me too much grief. If I do want something really badly I will just have a little bit of it following a "safe" meal, then I don't feel like I missed out on anything....
Do you have Heather's book(s) yet? Very helpful!!! Good luck,

Yeah, I have Heather's book and I really like it. I know stress is a problem with me too. I was just trying to figure out my limits with what I can and can't have. I notice too that if I have a little of somethings that I usually don't have a problem. But I have definately stopped eating until I am full too.
Thanks for the info.
