Anyone try this medication? Are you IBS-C or IBS-D, symptoms and results? Anyone?

I have taken this for a couple of years only when needed during a bad attack and if I need to be somewhere(about two pills twice a month), the side effects are not great, it makes me tired and very sensitive to heat, but it does really work for me to stop the pain. I usally have bouts of IBS-C. It's just a mask but in a crunch it helps me. -Debbie

Yes, I take hyoscyamine (Levbid).I take it everyday. It does make my mouth very dry sometimes and blurs my vision but I am willing to put up with it. Not all people have side effects, some people have more side effects. It just depends on the person.I actually have two different ones. The regular hyoscyamine you swallow (.375mg)time release and the linginual one you put under your tongue. However I don't always get results with the one under the tongue.
It's a trial and error thing.

I forgot to say I am IBS D usually but right now I am swaying to the IBS A side.

I've been taking this for years, in conjunction with Prevacid. When I first went on them I thought I died and went to heaven, NO PAIN. But over the years it has become less effective. When I increase the dose I get D so I just take it once a day. The blurred vision and heat thing bother me but not enough to stop taking it completely.

You should do a search on this, with no time limits. I know it's come up many times.

My dr prescribed hyoscamine, but I rarely take it. I find it only gives me the side effects without any of the intended effects. If I'm really bloated I'll take 2 before bed.

I take it twice a day and it has all but eliminated D (I am ibs-d). I haven't had any side effects at all with it. The great thing for me is when I have an attack from eating some trigger foods, it is a normal bm--not D!!! The only time I get D now is if I go way overboard on trigger foods.

It helps with the pain and the D. The linguinal one is supposed to stop the really bad cramps and pain, but for me it only works if taken as soon as I notice it.I would not go with out it. I also take a phayzyme pill (for gas) in the morning and at night as well to help with that.
Hope this helps.
