How long is tuna good for?

I bought Tuna salad at Whole Foods last night and since I never really eat tuna I realized I had no idea how long this kind of thing lasted. Any ideas?? I have a phobia about getting sick from bad food...

If there is no best before sticker on it I would say eat it tomorrow latest, but preferably today. I am very paranoid about keeping foods too.

Thanks Sinead! I hope you're right!!

I always feel like I'm wasting food because I can't eat it quick enough before it goes bad, or I don't want to eat it every day and by the time I do it's too late. Woe is me...

According to Star Kist, unopened canned tuna is good for 4 years. The unopened pouch tuna is good for 3 years.

This is for cans that are not damaged.

It should be used within 3-4 days once opened. Store in a closed container (not the can) or freeze leftovers.

Is this not safe? I'll check it out on google. You can go to a website on how long food stays good for opened or unopened.

Cindy: Yes, canned tuna that is not open is safe for a very very long time as you thought... but what Brittany was asking about I think was "Tuna Salad" probably mixed with mayo etc in the sold in the deli section of the market. That I would say just 2-3 days as long as it is kept in the fridge.
