Just found out I am going to have my second child, (my son is 6 1/2), I have had a hard time with my IBS C and D since February. I also have an ulcer, which wasn't found until May! Now I just found out that I am pregnant, any one have any suggestions on good foods to eat, that will keep some of this under control without taking medications that will possibly harm my baby? Thanks for all your help!

First of all, congratulations. I just had my 2nd child on August 6th. You are among friends here. My best advice would be to follow Heather's diet STRICTLY. Avoid all trigger foods, don't sneak in any dairy or other favourites (my weakness is cheese). If you follow the diet, you should be able to get control and avoid meds and attacks. Mind you, pregnancy adds its own upsets to the stomach which may really aggravate your IBS. Especially if you have nausea in the first trimester.
For that, I stuck to ALWAYS eating soluble fiber - and lots of it. I love the page "What to eat when you can't eat anything" in the dietary guidelines. Always start eating with one of those. If you can get something else down, great. If not, I just took a prenatal vitamin and tried not to worry about it.
Some people find things like sweet-tart a great combo for nausea. I found peppermint and ginger tea were lifesavers. Let me know how you're doing and I can give you more suggestions.
Take it easy, and take your prenatal vitamins.
