Personally, McDonalds and "safe for IBS" do not belong in the same sentence if you ask me. I have no idea about those 2 choices specifically, but I wouldn't dare eat ANYTHING at McD's.

Here's a rule of thumb for you. If it's on the soluble fibre list, it's safe to eat. IF it's on the trigger list, it's not safe to eat. If it's on neither list, treat it as insoluble fibre and eat it with care- and after soluble fibre. The salads are probably OK although they're mostly insoluble fibre, the dressings are probably not, and the chicken would be OK if it was grilled not fried, and if you ate it with some soluble fibre.

I can tolerate their grilled chicken sandwich if I order w/o mayo. Salads are tough. It really depends on how stable you are. I definitely wouldn't eat it on an empty stomach w/o some SF first. Good Luck!!

Hiya,
My sister watched that "Supersize Me" movie about McDonalds and this is what is said about the salads: Not only do the salads have just as much fat in them as a burger, but also more sugar.
I would stay far away from McDonalds enough you are feeling very risky.

I can't do the pepper OR the fat from McD's grilled chicken. As for salad, uh LETTUCE! Are you crazy? Maybe just crazed from hunger then. I understand.
As for the proper IBS diet, McDonald's food is easy to remember because nothing is safe from McD's. There's either too much fat, oil, or dairy.
