Does anyone else feel that way? I know IBS is IBS, but us C-ers definitely seem to have some differences than you D-ers. It is helpful to make those distinctions.
P.S. Heather, what do you think? Any chance?

I'm happy to hear what the D ers have to say, bec...sometimes I'm D too,but honestly, lately it's so seldom that I really think we need an IBS-C forum! We're totally weird compared to those D'ers!!LOL

and a separate forum was a no-go...unless my memory is completely whack, which could be the case.
It's just not practical, and I'm sure Heather will agree. If there's a C forum, there has to be a D forum, an A forum, a forum for pain-predominants, etc etc etc. Honestly, there's no need for segregation in the first place. I agree that the symptoms and treatment are a bit different, but what would you accomplish with a strictly C forum that you can't do in the general forums?
If it comes down to it and you REALLY want a C forum, there are plenty of free message board services out there, and places like Yahoo Groups, where you can start your own boards with a minimum of hassle.

Yep, I agree with Casey. It would just be way too difficult - plus, can't we all just get along??? lol, ok i'll stop being dramatic haha
I think someone suggested this somewhere I while back - but what if there was some way of having a field where you could put if you're IBS-D, C or A, i.e. under your pic, by where you're from etc... ??
Not sure if that would be desirable or even possible but it's just an idea!

alternative, ie: putting our "type of IBS" in our profiles.

that we don't, you know?? And there seems to be a vast majority of D ers here. Maybe if we did post our types with our names, then we would know...

I do see your point. Atomic Rose. I didn't realize there were so many forms of IBS! I just thought C and D and alternating C-D.
I don't have the pain except a few times a month for a violent minute. And, fats (esp. oil) seem to help so much, as does juice. I understand that fats and juice make D'ers double over. I do believe there can be some patterns defined if us C-ers could compare notes. (Of course, this is already going on here, in wonderful ways!) I know that we all can relate to the inconvenience, embarrassment, and crappy feelings that come from IBS. But, I am also very, very convinced there ARE distinct differences.
IF ANY C'ers would like to start a message board at another place like Yahoo (and of course, continue on here as well), e-mail me. If I get enough responses, maybe we could at least start something and see how it goes. (Excuse the pun.)

EVERYONE with IBS has different tolerances and different things that help them...and what helps/doesn't hurt doesn't neccessarily correlate with whether you are C or not!!! So that just doesn't work I'm afraid. We all have to work out our own tolerances with Heather's diet as a basis.
PS. I'm an A but my attacks are D and fats make me tend towards C ...also I'm alot more tolerant of fat levels than most IBSers. And I'm fine with some juice.

When you've been on here a while you get to know what everyone is, but you newbies are still getting to know us! This would be so useful.

Karen, I'm from Kansas too. Been IBS-C since I can remember (even as a child).
I agree that we Cr's should consult one another. I've tried so many things.... Ugh...

I've been thinking about this as I am also IBS C, with pain and bloating, but I'm not sure its a great idea. The basic diet principles are the same. Sure, people with C tend to need more insoluble fiber than people with D. We both need SFS's, lots of water and exercise. D people have immodium and C people have Zelnorm and Miralax. Pre and pro-bitoics are good for us both.
I'm afraid that if we broke up the forums more that we would get less responses and less of a sense of community. If you have a specific question about C, just put it in the subject title of mention it in the first few lines of your post. I think we should all change our sigs to reflect our particular IBS symptoms. Also remember that most people suffer from more than one issue. I suffer from C, which is mostly under control with miralax. I also suffer from bloating, gas and severe pain. People with D also suffer from pain and bloating. Some people don't have either C or D, just pain and bloating, where would those people post and look for answers?
