I'm a new member who is an IBS C/GERD sufferer..I would enjoy any updates on medication that may help with this as I have tried Previcid and Nexium for the GERD and they agrivate my IBS...also my doctor prescribed an anti-depression pill called amytryptalin (or however you spell it?) in an extremely small dose not for depression but for the C. Has anyone experienced any side affects with these? Both prevacid and Nexium caused me to have ringing in my ears and drowziness. Please tell me all you can! THank you!

Hi there! Welcome to the boards. I'm sorry Nexium didn't work for you, it's been really great for me. I was on Amitryptilene for awhile. It did really help control my nausea and for that I was grateful. The downside was that I gained a fair amount of weight on it. But if you can't take the others, I hope that this one helps!

Have you tried Zantac? It's not quite as effective long-term as a PPI but it does the same job...and it's a different type of drug so you might be okay with it.
I was on amitriptyline for a while and it helped some.

How high of a dosage were you taking because my docter said the dosage I was taking wouldn't affect me to that extent. I'm supposed to take 10 mg every night before bed. THanks for replying!
