does anyone know why after ages of being
under control, and not knowingly eating anthing different, I suddenly have a spell of dashing to the toilet almost every time I eat or drink? This went on for about a fortnight and now everything seems o.k. again. It really puzzles me and I have gone over again and again what I might have eaten.without coming to any conclusions. Would appreciate any suggestions.

Was it possibly a stomache virus or did something stressful happen? Stress can trigger an attack. And there is a stomache bug going around that last 24 hours, my daughter just got over it.

Thanks. I didn't realise stress could trigger an attack. I have had a bit of a stressful time, and I suppose the more you worry about the toilet problem, the worse it gets. I Used to panic everytime I went out anywhere in cas I would need a tiolet and could I find one in time. Sometimes I get really weepy and depressed. Is this a normal reaction to IBS? when things are bad?

Yes, weepy and depressed can definitely happen. When you're in constant pain it can certainly make you unhappy! Stress is one possibility, as is a hormone fluctuation of some kind. I even find that extreme weather can bring on IBS attacks for me.

Thanks for your thoughts. It certainly helps when you know others have the same problems as you. Sometimes you can be quite isolated because others don't seem to realise how bad it can be.

I didn't even think about weather changes. But that could explain some of the odd attacks I've had. I even wonder if our systems need to just flush sometimes. Does no gall bladder make a difference?
