Okay, today was evil, I tell you. For those of you who have had this done, you know what I'm talking about. I arrived at the doctor's offics at 7:30 am today and didn't leave until around 12:00pm. That in itself puts me in a grumpy mood. But give me that barium crap... and I mean gobs and gobs of it and you get one angry lynx. That stuff was horrible. I recall someone else having a post up about the stuff and it gave him/her a spasm. Happened to me too. It made me distended and I still am. Keep in mind that it's 8:30pm where I live. But I guess I can look on the bright side... it wasn't a colonoscopy. But guess what? I have to go back on the 4th next month for one. Fun, fun! If they dare come near me with an IV needle, I swear I kill every last one of them. I hyperventilate at the mere sight of needles and cringe at the thought of them. Oh happy day! Hoping tomorow is more pleasent and not nearly as long.

With my experience of hospitals and sedatives/anaesthetics, if you're super phobic, they can give you a pill sedative and then if you do need a shot, you'll be so out of it you won't care! Docs are usually pretty good about that stuff as long as you warn them well in advance.

Barium IS stupid! I had the pleasure of drinking the stuff last Monday. As of yesterday, I was STILL pooping funny colors! (Sorry, tmi!) I also found out that barium is a trigger for my D. Oh, Joy.
I kept saying "At least it's not a colonoscopy!", too! I guess it's all worth it to know that we "just" have IBS and not something worse, though.
Drink lots of water these next few days. (I bet you were already told that, though. )
Hope today is better, Myra

pooping funny colors and all that too. I've had the swallow and the enema. I'd choose the swallow in a heartbeat. but the enema diagnosed the IBS and the swallow diagnosed the GERD. Lucky me!
hang in there, Lynx...please.
