im confused on the fat percentage thing..i remember reading in on this website it said make sure every meal is 20-25% away from fat.does that mean that everything you eat in one meal all together has to be 25% or less?or for each ite?

I believe that's over all, not per item. But be aware that fatty foods can be a trigger, even if they're "safe" and recommended (like canola oil, margarine, avocados, even salmon), so you'll want to go easy on them at first.

...it's overall, which is why using canola oil in say ADBs is fine as it's a low percentage of the total food.

i remembered a post or an article that said IBSers total fat intake daily should be between 15%-20%?? something like that? either way, a low-fat diet is always a good way to go in maintaining

(triggers are in bold)

Regular Oreos Ingredients:
Sugar, flour, hydrogenated soybean oil, cocoa, high fructose corn syrup, whey, corn starch, baking soda, salt, soy lecithin, vanillin, chocolate (cocoa powder is ok but solid chocolate is not; I'm assuming that's solid chocolate]

Mini Oreos Ingredients:
Flour, sugar, hydrogenated soybean oil, cocoa, lactose, high fructose corn syrup, corn flour, whey, corn starch, salt, baking soda, soy lecithin, vanillin, chocolate

Sorry if that ruins your treats!

I would guess that even reduced fat oreos would still be to high in fat for our tummies to handle... remember all that fuss with oreos and trans fats? I haven't looked at the nutrition info, so I can't be certain, but I don't know if there is a way for them to make that creamy filling without milk or dairy, and it is tough to make cookies stick together without alot of fat.

If you are in the need of a choclate fix, you should check out the board fav, Anti Depressant brownies on the recipe board, they are easy to mkae, too!

I think you need to read the diet guidelines again! People with IBS are sensitive to fructose and HFCS is an artificial, concentrated sort...so a trigger!
