No, I am not taking any supplement right now, I should be gaining weight, I need to or else I won't gain muscle, but I'm afraid to. As it stands, I am already bloated and have a fat stomach despite being underweight, the last time I tried to add weight all it did was make my stomach bigger. I am skinny fat, and I can't take this.

I am going mad over here, somebody help me out.
Do you know what it's like to have your body flucating between mildly bloated and severely bloated every 5 minutes?
Just in the time it took to me to read this post, my body went from being mildy bloated to severely bloated, and now I feel like laying bed.
This bloating is taking energy from me, I wish my doctor would do something, I can't live this way.
Why is my body flucating, HOW CAN I STOP THE FLUCATING AND have some body form consistancy.

Actually since I'm pretty sure this is Volatile (right?) I was referring to our discussion the other night when you asked the *same question* about bloating and sweating and a number of people gave you their experiences and opinions.

I don't know what pill you're taking but I can tell you 100% it's not a cure for IBS. I don't even have to explain why as it should be obvious.

Comments like this:

Do you know when I get bloated, it impairs my ability to move like a normal person, the bloating make me hunch, and decreases how much I can move? This must come to an end, I can't function.

is what chinagrl is referring to when she says people are getting *very* irritated with your tone. First, yes we KNOW. Please stop trying to insist that we couldn't possibly understand what you're going through - we are all going throught the same thing, and we deal with it. One of the ways we deal with it is coming to the boards to discuss it...

Second, when we discuss, we don't demand that other posters give us all the answers or give us a cure. We udnerstand that you "can't function" and that you're upset with the way you LOOK - but we (or anyone) can't deliver you relief on a silver platter and make everything ok. I'm truly sorry we can't do that but we can't. The only person who can do that is YOU. YOU have to be willing to make changes in your diet (i.e. following the diet on this website 100%) and your lifestyle (i.e. not stressing and getting upset and anxious about all this, as Amanda said - this doesn't mean fogetting about your IBS completely, you have to STICK TO the diet or your IBS will make itself very difficult to ignore).

Listen, everyone understands that you are upset and frustrated and not feeling well. And you know what? We can totally relate because believe it or not! WE'VE ALL BEEN THERE. But you really have to stop being so harsh and demanding in your posts and you really need to stop flooding the boards with posts, as Heather expressed in her post directed to you - especially posts that ask questions that either you have already asked and had answered (even if they weren't the answers you wanted) or that are already well covered on the website.

We really do want to help you - but we can't do that very well if you just go and get yourself banned again, now can we?

1. I don't gulp it, I drink it slowly.

2. Oddly, I don't get bloated when I sweat from exercise. I get bloated when I sweat from doing other things, anything, besides exercises, so if I am mowing the lawn and sweating, I get bloated, moving furniture, I get bloated, but exersising, no. I don't know why this happens. You know, that reminded me that I get bloated when I'm cleaning or moving things too; I thought it was just the activity that started things moving through my intestines. Usually, I pass gas or go to the restroom and it goes away.

3. I haven't measured, but the pressure and waist expand by a significant portion. I'm sorry if you mentioned this already, but how long have you had this bloating?

4. Not really.

5. Going to the bathroom relieves it momentairly, then the bloating resumes. When I wake up in the morning, I wake up that way.

6. No, I started Digestive Advantage this week and take lactaid pills. I have taken beano, benefiber, citrucell, and metamucell, nothing, are these really worth the effort. Yes, SF and probiotics really help. Believe me. I finally committed myself to the diet 100% in January; it took four months but I have a lot less pain and a lot less bloating. I know that if I stray from the diet I could just bloat up again and have an attack. HOWEVER, I've NEVER had the kind of bloating you have, where it's just triggered by water or as severe.

7. I went to a doctor who referred me to an Irritable Bowel Syndrome doctor. In all honestly, this board has been 10 times as helpful, the doctor never returns calls and when I do talk with him, he rushes me. I'm glad to hear we've been helpful. But you're doing a lot to help yourself too, by following the diet and reading the info here. Medical coverage blows, sorry for the language but it is. I understand. Do you go to your college's student health center? When I went to mine I never saw the same dr twice and I always had to explain my symptoms all over again. I had one doctor tell me to find a support group or do research online because she didn't have that much info on IBS.

Any ideas as to why I get bloated from drinking water and sweating, but not frome exercising, more importantly what I can do to stop it. I'm sorry, I don't have any ideas if you're careful with drinking and eating. Just keep on the diet, which is what you've been doing; it may just be taking longer for you to be getting results. How long have you been following it now? I've read that taking iron supplements can cause bloating and gas. Are you taking any food supplements or multi-vitamins that may contain iron? Iron is your diet is fine, you're not eating enough of it to be a problem, but taking it in a multi-vitamin could be a problem.

There is NO cure for IBS and no one treatment that gets rid of it. I'm afraid you are going to have to learn to live with this "new" body for a while - it takes alot of work and time to get stabilised.

I always get bloated from drinking water. Try drinking lukewarm or room temperature herb teas instead. I also found that drinking high quality bottled water also helps - tap water kills me even on a good day.

In my effort to stabilize I drank too much water/herbal tea and caused problems for myself. You have to find a proper balance...it is all trial and error. Start a food/drink journal, it will help.

The hypno CDs give you tools and methods to control your anxiety. You are right that ignoring IBS won't make it go away. Following the diet 100%, changing your habits, and RELAXING will help. It is clear from your posts that you are feeling desperate and frustrated. We have all been there and we all did whatever we could to get out of it. Now it's your turn ... it sucks for you, I agree. But we did not give you IBS and we can't take it away. We are willing to help you out but please ask nicely, so that people don't get annoyed and give up on you.

to answer your question yes I know what it is like to go from a flat stomach to severe bloating in no time for what seems like no reason at all. Bloating is a huge part of my IBS and if I could get that under control as well I would be in heaven. Unfortunately, I don't think there is one clear set answer to your question on how to stop the bloating. It seems to be a combination of things that cause it for us. Yes you can sip not gulp your water but if you eat dairy after that you are still going to bloat. I know how frusrtating it can be. I had a laady that I work with all the time come up to me one day touch my stomach and ask me if I was pregnant. I wanted to cry, well I did, later on the way home. At the time she came up to me I felt like my pants were going to burst and I was having pains and felt really sick. I know it was IBS but it still hurt me to think that the image I saw in the mirror is what other people see as well.
So my answer to your question about how to stop the flucuating is thta there isn't one answer. Yes, there are people on here who have got their bloat under control but I think it would be very hard for them to pinpoint the exact thing that stopped it. For them dairy might have been a trigger so when they eliminated dairy it stopped. dairy might not be as big of trigger for you and there is something else that is causing it.
You never know, if I knew the answer I would be the first to share to stop ALL OF US from suffering, because yes we do suffer as much as you.
All we can do is try the suggestions and see what happens.

And when it happened to me I thought I was having an okay (not great, but okay) day. Never did get on with that woman anyway!

Among my friends, I think it's hilarious...they're used to me saying stuff like "that pizza's made me pregnant!".

..do you drink from a glass? a bottle?? or with a straw?? one doc told me to only drink thru straws. and ibs dietitian told me not to so i would trust her opinion. perhaps your just retaining water for some reason?? does it happen all the time or only when you exercise? the wind-relieving position from yoga is awesome for bloating! good luck~
