I know several males with IBS and there are several who post here, its just that the active part of the community seems to be more the female part, but then talking to my husband- message boards with women tend to be more active in general then those with mostly men.

More active? Dont think so, I have seen male dominated message boards that are ten times more active than this! I was just wondering if the fact that there are clearly a majority of females here reflects the fact that IBS affects women mostly!

But this is a predominantly female board, mostly because the female members are more chatty. If that bothers you... sorry! LOL!

Bothers me? No not really except that it makes me doubt even more that what I am suffering from is IBS

I think that perhaps some men are shy to talk about it? Could that be the case?
Here's something I found doing a quick search as I wondered if it does affect more women than men.

It is true that IBS affects more women than men and that this board is predominantly women. But there are some men that post from time to time. Anxiety was a major problem with my IBS and the hypnosis program did wonders for me (I also take Levsin daily which has all but eliminated my D). I can eat pretty much like a "normal" person, well a bad "normal" person--fast foods, pop, dairy, etc. So, I generally refrain from posting most of the time since I feel a little hypocritical.

Hmmm... last I checked I was male. Gotta ask my wife to make sure though. ;D Though perhaps my Lymphocytic Colitis doesn't fall under IBS disease anymore. And you will find even more women than men who report that they have Lymphocytic Colitis. LC and IBS are both diseases that anyone can get.

No, us "manly-men" (that's sarcasm, by the way) can get IBS too. Join the club!
