Okay, so in Aus we don't have baked Lays. We have Lays chips but they're not baked. Neither are Smiths Crisps (my all time fave) or Kettle chips or Pringles. Even the HFS ones are light on salt but still fried. Anyone got any ideas on safe aussie chips? I really miss them!

I know it's not the same, but have you tried baking tortilla triangles? I love doing this...tried them with salt and black pepper (my favourite Kettle Chips flavour) at the w/e and they were great!

I haven't found proper baked chips either.

There's at least one recipe for making your own potato chips on the Recipe board. There may be more if you do a search. More work, I know, but I have to tell you I'm not that crazy about the baked potato chips I can get here, so I'll probably end up trying to make my own anyhow.

Will give making my own a try, I'm trying to juggle too many diets at once atm. It makes life really difficult!
Re Chrissy: I haven't seen her post for a while. Just wondering if I missed something?

Hi Amy!! Sorry I missed this post, I haven't been around lately as work's been reaaally busy. I also thought a break from the boards would help me to stop obsessing about my IBS, I was getting really stressed for a while there, so thought I'd just step back and RELAX. Am feeling pretty good at the moment, but restrictive diets are going to be the end of me!

Mmmmm potato chips, now there's one thing I really miss. Not sure if you can eat corn chips but Freedom Foods does a 97% fat free baked corn chip that has no added preservatives or flavours. They are very plain, but I think they're pretty tasty, and even better with a tuna dip for example.

When I really have a potato chip craving, I try the Red Rock sea salt chips, which are preservative and flavouring free (and GF). The problem is that even though they are low in saturated fat, they are still high in the mono and poly unsaturated kind, which I do better with, but are still fats and a trigger.

So unfortunately I probably haven't helped you much here, I too am waiting for the low fat potato chip to hit the market! Life on low fat, low sugar, preservative and artificial flavouring free, GF & DF isn't much fun!!

Take care xxxxxxx

Thanks Chrissy! Yep, I like the Red Rock Deli ones but like you said the fat content is still a bit worrisome I seem to be okay with them so long as I don't eat too many. I hear you on the restrictive diets thing. So over bland foods where you can choose between bread and well if you're lucky, bread. Hugs! Hope you find out your intolerances soon.

I was going to email you to check in! How's the bloating and BMs going? Any conclusions of what foods are/are not good for you?

Take care!

Hi Beth!

I'm doing okay. Bloating is as usual however BMs are much better... that was until a stress attack yesterday which gave me D!!? Really strange considering I've been doing everything I can lately to prevent the chronic C.

Food intolerances/ allergies. Ummmmm whats new... well I've been testing preservatives and artifical flavours lately and my conclusion is that I'm definately sensitive to them. I'm thinking of doing the failsafe diet that Amy is on to try and pinpoint food intolerances/ allergies even closer then the vega testing has been able to.

Soooo life is still full of dull & boring food and obsession about IBS, food, allergies, intolerances....

How are you doing? Any better?

Thanx Amy I picked up a packet of red rock chips when I was in the servo tonight... stared at them for 5 mins..... and knew what would happen (I'd eat the lot!!) so I put them back!! Can't tempt myself lately.

I read your email just before I left work today so didn't have time to reply, will get to it on Monday. I almost cried when I read it, I didn't realise we were so similar in what we're suffering!! Your eating habits are EXACTLY the same as me, its so nice to find someone who can sympathise!! It will really help to chat with you, and I promise my next email will be more positive!! Haa haa.

Have a good weekend

Chrissy xx
