Isn't it frustrating how unique IBS is to each person? I mean, we share general triggers in common, like high fat foods and alcohol, but even they vary! It seems a cure would be easier to find if the cause was understood better.
I know what you mean about the fresh herbs--they cost more too! I usually just cook for myself as well, so I don't buy them that often. I'm not the greatest cook so I haven't tried many of the recipes on the board. When I do follow a recipe, I tend to omit certain herbs and spices because I like my flavors a little simpler (which is just personal preference, not necessarily IBS-related).
What kind of IF are you able to tolerate? It seems like this diet is much more difficult for IBS-Cers to manage. I don't understand how you figure out triggers if you don't have an attack like I do with D (I almost immediately know when something hasn't agreed with me).
I hope someone else has some info they could share about dried herbs!

My triggers are similar to lots of you with IBS - D. Here goes:
Caffein - in the worst way! Broccoli - it is the vegetable of the devil! Carbonated beverages Animal fat (I can handle veg/olive oil in moderation) Raw vegetables and some raw fruits Ice cream Stress My period (more attacks in days right afterwards)
That would be the big ones on the list...

Even if you figure that dried herbs and fresh are BOTH still insoluble, there's rarely enough in a recipe to give anyone a problem... unless you're extremely sensitive, like Maria, or if you're a weirdo like me and have one or two herbs that you absolutely CANNOT have (I can't eat oregano, even in tiny quantities).
Herbs and spices are practically a necessity for IBS cooking - the food would be ridiculously bland without it. Even when I was completely unstable, I used them with wild abandon without any problems.

You can always tried ground herbs also. Ground ginger, rosemary, onion powder, garlic powder, and pureeing in the blender any other herbs that you particularly like. Or break them up and grind them with a mortar and pestle.
