it is hard to say point blank what is or isn't safe for every little thing. Many sauces are safe; salsa, mustard, some tomato based sauces, mango chutney, asian sauces like sweet and sour and soy sauce and teriyaki. Look for MSG and HFCS on the labels and avoid if they have it. Ketchup much of the time has HFCS. These sorts of sauces have little or no fat though.

For soups, Subway soups may be safe depending on the kind. Look on their website for what is in them. Vegetable soup is often safe and chicken noodle can be at times. Sometimes they are too oily and are a trigger- other soups, like cream soups are NOt safe since they have dairy and a lot of fat. Healthy choice canned soup is safe in veggie and chicken noodle. Other soups generally have too much fat, MSG or other trigger foods. sometimes stores will have fancy brand soups that are safe. Mushroom barley is great.

Some microwave LOW FAT meals are safe. Some of the Healthy Choice freezer dinners are safe and low in fat. Watch the fat percentage on the label and watch for dairy and additives like MSG. Amy's brand cheeseless pizza and samosas (in the freezer section) are also safe.

msg=monosodium glutamate
hfcs=high fructose corn syrup.

both are sometimes on labels by those acronyms, msg sometimes under other things too...

So long as it's not something with cheese sauce, I haven't really had a problem with Weight Watchers Smart Ones or Lean Cuisines. Also haven't had a problem with Campbell's Select or Progresso soups.

I don't know what they put in Healthy Choice products, but each and every one ever tried at least gave me indigestion. One of their ice creams kept me home from work once. I haven't touched anything by Healthy Choice in about 10 years, and that was way before IBS. As always, your mileage may vary. Good luck!!

I go for about 20-25% from fat these days.. when I am having D issues I lower that... but not when I'm having C issues... but then I'm an A...

the only frozen dinners I've found without ANY dairy (mind you I am allergic) are kosher ones- I do the tabachniks soups and chilis... thats it...

Casein is a milk derivative (that's what is in most of those "dairy free" whipped creams) - some people are fine with it and some are not. I can't have it. You may have to experiment to see how you handle it. Many of the soy cheeses are made with it. If you handle those fine - you should be okay with it.

I am actively allergic to cassein and whey and having dairy subs that include them (to me that isn't a sub- they just removed the lactose) is actaully worse then having the real thing!

but for some people they are fine...

How can they call it "dairy free" when it includes whey or casein -- and sometimes both? That's just one of my little pet peeves though. If I eat it I blow up and look like I'm 6 or 8 months pregnant - cramping.... and that's at the very least -- and I might have a full blown attack with D if I get too much of it.

Anyway... Some people do fine with the cool whip or products like it -- or the soy cheeses. I just stay away.
