How many of you have or it is a possibily, a rectocele? All the pressure going on in the area can cause a rectocele to develop. Especially if you are constipated. My case is loose stools and going too often in one day puts a lot of pressure here. Sometimes when you can't go, it may not be constipation as the stool is trapped in the rectocele (my case) ![](/messageboards/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif)
Having surgery soon to correct this prolapse and may help the IBS says the doctor.

How did you get diagnosed with this problem? I never heard of it. Just wondering. Melissa

A rectocele is a bulge from rectum into the vagina. It can be so severe that some can see the bulge into the opening of vagina. I had surgery a year ago for other prolapses, but this one emerged later. Do have IBS, so bowel movements became a problem. Went to my urogynecologist for yearly check-up and cystoscopy for bladder and he found the rectocele after listening to my complaints. This is the second one I have had in six years, so I knew what it was when starting to feel the pressure before a bowel movement and on the flare days of having to go 3 or more times a day. And I have had IBS for over 15 years. That was confirmed after seeing a gastroenterologist and having a colonoscopy. Not to take away from the IBS subject of this site, I just wanted to let people to know about this and check it out if they are having this pressure problem.
